1950's Margate star Eric Worthington died in Sydney, Australia on 16.11.06 aged 80.

Really sad news Jeff. A great player from the Almer Hall days. His name brings back many happy memories.

Jeff Trice holds the equivilent of the Club's Hall of Fame!

 

Of all the people that you can read about on his site there are really only a handful of "Gate Legends" - people who have "really" made their mark on the game. For most of these it has been only what they have done for the Club!.

 

But Eric is a real Gate Legend - Yes he had a good career with the Club AND he went on to be active in the promotion of Womens football AND in all aspects of football in Australia. I have read elsewhere about the high regard he was held in that country.

 

That makes him 3 times a star!
