Margate 1 Whitstable 1

Than you Bitch. You do me a injustice with that picture.(see post further down)

From a referees perspective I enjoyed the game very much. The pitch was ideal, unlike the waterlogged Hartsdown pitch.Ooh that really was boggy in places.

A very fair result I thought. Both clubs enjoyed the best part of their day with the strongwind at their backs but "gate" nearly stole it after their 88th minute equaliser. Would have been unjust to Whitstable had they done so,to be fair.

Only one minor scuffle between the two smallest on the pitch I think they were. Must have used the whistle probably only a dozen times ALL game.

Both goals well taken, the Whitstable one in particular,a rasping drive from about 25yds. Gate hit the post in the first half but on the whole got stronger the more the game went on.I was requested by the Whitstable side to play 35 miutes each way due to most of them being over 40.

A very good start by our side & they will improve after having this hard fought draw against a mostly middle aged but talented bunch from Whitstable.

Nice to see Malcolm there & his wife & Joseba,Ancientblue(another face for my collection) & Alan.A few others there too which was encouraging.Apologies if I missed anyone known to me.

No cards produced(though I was itching & sometimes tempted l.o.l.) wasn't I Butler?

Got some ribbing & verbals from the side lines but I just ignored them in the main. The usual thing refs have to put up with. They know not what they say! l.o.l.

Can I just mention our groundsman Ray too in conclusion as he kindly opened up the dressing rooms for us & even managed to find some nets & put them up too.(I even saw him taking them down after the final whistle).A nice guy & he deserves some sort of recognition for his hard work not just for the first team & getting the Hartsdown pitch up to scratch when its possible to do so but also for putting his time out for the boys today.

A good day with nice weather to match, after my early morning concerns for play.

May I just say a huge thank you to Cookie for refereeing our game today. The lads had a whip-round for you which I'll give to you on when I next see you.
Thanks again.

Thanks Mark.Theres really no need. Thank them all but please use it wisely elsewhere where it can do some good.It was my pleasure. In fact I had feelings of actually wanting to play again after seeing you all in action. You brought my youth back to me. That pays for my day.
