Well this was the first time to my knowledge a former ETFC youth team/reserves member had started and played 90 minutes and Tony Corrigan can feel rightly proud.

Well Flackwell started well determined to come at us out of a watery sun. Town settled reasonably and town’s first real attack had Paul Campbell running in a clearly fouled. “Penalty”. Ricci Crace steps up and beat Hart 0 – 1 on 12 minutes. Matty Negus did a fantastic run down the wing until losing his way at the end. Some lovely approach passing from Crace and Negus. Not to be outdone Campbell, Hammatt and Velandia passing well too.

Smith was enjoying his football with a deft little back heal that had town fans cheering. A Campbell header was saved. Smithy shot over. Negus shot wide.

Second half a Hammatt volley was saved, Crace shot saved. Negus shot over Hammatt shot a half volley over. Velandia shot over Crace shot saved. Smith heads wide. This was a real purple 10 minute patch and Town were well on top.

Suddenly JJ saves town from what looked a certain goal for Flackwell. JJ saves again – Could this be Town would throw the points away again? At the other end Hammatt in a one on one with the keeper who saves with his legs.

Crace injured Deano on. Campbell heads wide. Watson on for Smith. Hammatt headed wide. Ofori on for Hammatt. On 90 minutes Kojo was working hard and finally threaded a ball through for Nyman to squeeze a toe poke to roll in almost slow motion over the line.

3 hard won points - and a clean sheet to boot.

A good result on a tough pitch to play good football on.

Special mention to the Heathen's keeper who played well and pulled off a great save at the end. Also, I have to say that the Heathen's officials and supporters were some of the nicest I have encountered. they all wished us well as we left and there was some good banter at their tea hut. Poor old Tacho, he had to wait ages for a burger!!!!
