Goal from kick-off

Recommended Posts

Ryan Wade scored from the halfway line at the start of the second half in tonight's South Midland Floodlit Cup game between Colney Heath Reserves and Hertford Town Reserves. With the home 'keeper off his line, "Wadey" received the ball from the kick off and shot from the halfway line, up the slope, flighted the ball over the 'keeper and under the crossbar into the net. I have never before, in thousands of games watched, seen this before - no wind assistance or slip by the 'keeper. just pure magic!

I once saw a youth match in the South East Counties League Cup between Aldershot and Tottenham Hotspur where the only goal of the game was scored after 4 seconds! Kevin Watson (later to play for Colchester United, Barnsley, etc.) touched the kick-off to Darren Caskey (later to play for Notts County, amongst others) and he chipped the goalkeeper. Several Spurs supporters missed the goal as they had been directed to the wrong Aldershot Barracks ground and turned up five minutes late. As Aldershot FC went out of business later that season, they have all been trying to convince themselves that the game should be expunged from records but, unfortunately for them, that doesn't apply to knockout cup games. grin

Nowadays, of course, the ball doesn't need to be touched by anyone else so Wadey's goal could have been quicker if he just ran up and had a direct shot!

No idea, but I can tell you it was 1-1 at Waltham Forest reserves. That reminds me, I'll miss you over the next seven days...not!

Did Wadey have a bet with the keeper at half time? seriously would have loved to seen it, he also has a lethal shot. I have been wathcing him closely recently & he is becoming a very good player I.M.O. He is starting to come of age on the pitch this season.

I'm going nowhere, clip Rods. YOU, however, are now embarking on a seven day sabbatical leaving the rest of us in peace and quiet. In case you've forgotten, let me remind you in more detail:

Wow, you need all your wits about you to interpret that! So, you DO NOT think that FM will be able to resist .. NOT ATTENDING

Is that meant to be "I think FM won't be able to resist this one"?
or do you really mean that he will be unable to resist missing it?
