What.... goodnight, have to go to work.....
You can't leave us now Carjam.... come back, this is getting interesting.
I must say, what a bunch of sad old gits we are. Canvey do well in the F A Cup and we all get on our soap boxes and give it large about their ground being not up too much, Jeff King being a "suagr daddy" and Canvey's players being "sad old donkeys". Are they the only team in the Ryman Premier League worth talking about?
It is so sad (me included, I have to say but in my defence, they are our only rivals to note).
Lets just get talking about another subject...
..... Now what has George Borg been up too..... (he, he, he, he).

You have plenty of rivals, if you dont think so then think of the Beazer Homes. It may put you off the thought of promotion. I have been a bit unkind to Canvey. Sorry Canvey fans. Do forgive me. Im just so jelous. With you playing in Essex, having such a super stadium, having superstars like Julian willing to turn out for you, having all that money and having so much success and so many supporters. Imagine winning every game and being able to constantly laugth at the opposition. It must be fun...but sad.
Carjam

Oooooooo sarcasm Carjam, sarcasm.
Hey, I was being kind. We all know the "Scummers" have got the best team Jeff King's money can buy (they don't get enough support to do an "Aldershot"), the ground needs improving and at the mo, they win things but in the great road of life there are enough rocks to trip 'em up. they just ain't got to 'em yet.
Sit back, and enjoy 'cos it will happen. It's a fact of life just as David ****s Vikkie is a fact of life. It just takes time.
Any way, what have you got to moan about. Your mob did a great job on Billericay (I tip my hat off to your team), by all accounts the best outfit seen against us and are second in the league ON GOALS, I beleive. You can't be getting paranoid???
My point is, Canvey Island is all we seem to discuss, can we change the subject (okay I could start a new thread - how about, Jeff King - How many burgers??? He, he, he - joking everyone, just joking).
How about the changes in the league pyramid. That presents more of a concern than "Will Scummy Island win the league, FA Cup, FA Trophy, Essex Senior cup, qualify for Europe (all this season), as far as I can see!!!

    images/icons/tongue.gif" border="0

Thing is, love us or hate us (most of you fall into the second category, I guess) you just can't stop talking about us. The interest that fans from across the whole of Rymanland show in Canvey is extremely flattering. Remember, there is no such thing as bad publicity!
One of the reasons this discussion board was set up was because the original Canvey forum - Below Sea Level - was regularly the host of opinions, comments and insults from a much wider communtity than just the island. Farnborough and Aldershot fans regularly used BSL to have a pop at each other. Obviously, our board, the Canvey Island board was tagged as a 'Favourite' on their browsers.
It's Canvey that you all hold in (secret) respect and you just can't stop talking about us. Deep down you are desperately interested in our exploits and you just have to keep coming back to see how the CIFC related threads are progressing. Sure, you put on a persona of insults and derisory comment, but one or two of you should be brave enough to admit, you admire us and what we have achieved (with or without Jeff King's money).
Personally, I couldn't tell you a single fact about Billericay, G&N or Braintree; not because they are not good, successful football clubs with a band of great fans, but I just ain't interested in them. I have no desire at all to research their exploits and comment on them.
But so many of you are fixated with Canvey. (So you ought to be.) You might reply by the dozen to this message. You might insult me, tell me I'm talking b******s, but you will come back and continue this thread which, like so many others, starts off with one subject but ends up on the only one you all know is important - Canvey Island.
Make my day.
Merv CIFC

Um Merv, I can't recall any success without Jeff King's money so would you agree that puts your team in the catorgory "sugar daddy" team?
Just asking... images/icons/tongue.gif" border="0

the 1200 plus who turned out to see 'old donkey dicks' at the braintree game have pushed our ave attendance up into the 600's back above riccay and second to the all conquering shots..maybe that was why the ref treated us all to what seemed like half an hour of injury time so we could practice giving the ball bk to braintree a bit more.. please note this info came from NLOTN i would like to thank them for the info and would like to remind you all that it came from NLOTN i cant be arsed to do a link..please dont sue me images/icons/wink.gif" border="0
[ 22 November 2001: This message was edited by: CANV ]

Thank you Gazza for keeping this Canvey Island related thread running.
Canvey seems to be the only team on anyone's mind around here - you help to prove my point.
Any more?
Merv CIFC

i should think with the cup games last year (11,000 at southend, trophy) and this year (t.v. cash etc)canvey must be one of the few clubs in the league to make any money....... it seems to me that poor old canvey are the only team to try to struggle through the last season and this without a sugar daddy.....we are competing in a league of sugar daddied teams , its not fair!!!! images/icons/mad.gif" border="0

Nothing much to add to this. Points taken I shall go to work tonight and figure something else to talk about. Mind you the original line was a few points. The fact that its all gone back to CI is due to the make up of supporters here and there place in the league. Look forward to seeing you all on TV, can you make yourselves obvious please.
Car Jam

Yes Carjam - we will be waving at the telly, I am sure that all the hate Canvey brigade will be watching just like Merv said. We are a point of interest to you all, we are where you would like to be Carjam - are you telling us that if a mega rich man invested into your club you would stop watching them play? of course not, get real!

Oh come on lads! Gazza, Carjam there is no way you would not be giving it the large if it were Gravesend, or ricky in Canveys shoes at the moment!
I think we all know Canvey could be just 1 game away from being knocked out the AXA but you cant blame us for enjoying it while it lasts : images/icons/grin.gif" border="0
but in reality we are in with a real chance of going through to round 3 and getting a premier league side, thats dreamland stuff for any non league side, it just so happens we may just do it.
What ever happens though Canvey have done well already, noone can doubt that!

Well I for one really hope that you do turn Northampton over and get a good draw in the 3rd round.

Youre getting it all wrong chaps, just assuming I was having a go, when it was not the case...at least not then. I wish you well with your match, hope you win after all you are the favourites.
COME ON CANVEY

Sorry Simon BTFC. You are so right. Talking about anyone or anything is better than the prospect of a trip to C*****n. (See, even the name gets picked up by the bad language editor.)
Someone suggested they play their games on the moon. It's only slightly more difficult to get to, but at least there's more atmosphere.
Merv CIFC

If we stay in the trophy until the 4th round, then our home match with Canvey will be postponed as well as the away one.
Perhaps we should then save both these matches until the end of the season as a title decider
