PREMIER DIVISION

1-3 AFC Dunstable v Dunstable Town

A report from another Forum:

After setting off from Tring in a heavy rainstorm bound for Leighton Buzzard to see Aylesbury United v Berkhamsted, it was no surprise to find it had been called off by the time I arrived. There was still time to get across to here though...

SSML Premier Division

AFC Dunstable 1 Dunstable Town 3

Admission £5, Tea £1.20

The pitch looked fine with no areas of standing water, and stood up well during the match. The tone for the match was set early with Lee Roache scoring twice for Town in the 2nd and 12th minutes. AFC pulled one back early in the second half, but the game never really caught fire as it should, and a third Town goal from Tony Burnett on 71 minutes sealed the points for the league leaders.

I know the old Creasey Park was a bit of a dump, but at least it had some character. The current version is very tidy and efficient, but a clubhouse that looks like a ski lodge and two Arena stands doesn't make for a memorable venue. I've now been here three times - in September, April and December and it's always been cold - no wonder the Town locals have adopted the Russian hat as their fashion choice!

Edit: the attendance was 263 - no doubt boosted by a few Luton fans who came over after their game was called off late.

The match has already been rescheduled for 5th March.

I remember a game at Harlow when Hertford were winning something like 3-1 when the lights went after about 85 minutes. Harlow wanted the match to be replayed but the Isthmian awarded the game to Hertford.

Just for the sake of historical accuracy HTFCew, it was 2-0, and the 81st minute. It was Boxing Day 2002, but it took until April 2003 to get the points awarded!

Report from Biggleswade United Website

A disappointing end to 2012 saw United go down 3-0 to Stotfold in this local derby match although the scoreline was not a fair reflection on the game in which United tipped the scales in terms of goal opportunities but the Rokermen's finishing touches produced the goods. A brace from Stotfold's wingback Nyashe Sagwete and new signing Kim Forsythe saw the points head the seven miles up the road.

Not sure who wrote that but United didnt have a decent shot on target. It was fairly even until Stotfold scored and United had a man sent off when 2-0 down at which point Stotfold missed half a dozen good chances to run up a big win which would have been harsh. But Scotty Waters was by far the busiest keeper.

Big credit to Tracey James and her team for getting the game on. Pitch was excellent given the heavy rain we had
