Colin, the original series of RTH finished in the late 60's. I;m not sure if they broadcast repeats of whole series but they did do one or two "specials". You can of course buy tapes of the show......

The only cr@p bit about RTH was the song in the middle, by the Fraser Hayes Four. Even for the time it was mind-bogglingly awful.

Ah yes, Billy Cotton - WAKEY WAKE!

Clitheroe Kid, yes, and Roy Hudd has a show too. Sometimes Family Favourites was three way, if they a section with another place like Cyprus, Singapore or Aden.

Five o'clock and it was Pick of the Pops, just a one hour show them with four parts called "units". I think Unit One was new releases, unit 2 was LP's or EP's, unit 3 was, err, something else, maybe new entries, and Unit 4 was the Top 10, in reverse order of course. OK pop pickers? Compulsory listening for us young scamps!

Not me!! I only know because Invis told me about them. I don't know about radio being called wireless in his youth - I'm sure he mentioned something about having a crystal set!! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Around the Horn.....and....Beyond our Ken!

I'm not sure what the connection between the picture and the radio programmes is either. We were entertained by words and sounds, and not by anything visual.

You mentioning Sunday Roasts, when I went to live in Belgium for 2 1/2 years, food wise, the only thing I missed was Yorkshire Puds, since I got back, I have "Aunt Bessys" Yorkshire and AB's Roast Pots.

[color:"red"] I have sent my response direct to young Mark on this remark. I trust it is a little too rich, even for this prestigious site ! [color:"black"]

I'm sorry if the post was too interlectual for you to work out.........in simple terms for you......He is Kenneth Horne.....he just might have been the person in the programmes!

We're only football supporters on these forums. You can't expect everyone to make simple connections as easily as on some other discussion groups on the internet!

I think we do a fairly good job on here as far as intelligence goes.

Well....at least we haven't degenerated as far as one Aldershot supporter's post on the Confguide site, titled: "Just had a luverly 5hit".

Well, that just about sums Aldershot up. I used to live in Farnham and avoided Aldershot like the plague !

All squaddies and their 'hangers-on' !
