this wasnt a leauge choice this was a club choice. and i honestly dont beleve the step up is that much, i have watched the reserves and i have watched ryman north and ryman premier this season. i coudnt see that much difference. i think it is a discredit to assume that the players we have coundnt perform at the level.

but hell the decision has been made, i just hope as a club we dont suffer

This is all very grim, I was upbeat when i heard we were going in Ryman Premier, but not this crap, I'LL tell you now we will get crowds of about 100 next season, we had a chance to re-build this club in a league with some good clubs who would bring a crowd down here, some decent local derbies and a decent standard of football, something stinks here with this situation, someone aint telling he truth

Apart from the division we will be playing in what has changed? People have been saying on here how they will support this club no matter what and now because we have gone 1 division lower you are on about people deserting the club!

we will stick together what i said was earlier a lot of people who are not regulars are not going to get excited about us playing aveley or tilbury

Which I think is where we as fans should come in pre-season to literally drag people to as many as the friendlies as possible as well as doing everything they can outside the Club during some of their spare time.

 

This is probably the wrong thread for ideas, but in July as the friendlies are coming in, schools will going out for the Summer break - A perfect oppertunity for a player or two to visit and brainwash the kids into coming to Park Lane over the Summer. Prove to them that we are very much still alive and kicking.

Im not being negative, I just think that we were given a great oppotunity by the FA leagues committee who found a place for us in the Ryman Premier and I think the crowds would have come along but teams like Aveley and Tilbury get about 30 to 50 at home games FACT. Wimbledon will bring 500 to 1000 FACT. Everyone in non-league circles know this, which just makes me think something has gone on here. I, like most others, just want the best for the club.

We couldn`t get people excited about watching Accrington,Hereford and Grays <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> We can`t expect that the people of Canvey are going to change their attitude to the club overnight, sure we should (and no doubt will) do our best to get them interested but it`s not going to happen overnight.

I think there`s still quite a few people watching now who enjoyed Canvey`s games against the likes of Aveley and Tilbury in the past.

At the end of the day if the team are winning they will come. The Ryman Prem would have been good fun but the fans would have soon lost interest if the club was near the bottom of the league.

Of course a decent away following would be welcome income but you can`t rely on it. As long as the core of our fans keep coming we shouldn`t have to worry what support the away team brings.

Fair point Yellow, I think if we put on an open-air rock concert at Park Lane featuring World famous groups people would still not go !!

It will not change overnight but there are many different things to previous years.

 

The key is, if people believe they own the club they will come in their droves, you have only got see what is happening at Hornchurch to see what I mean.

 

It is very important that supporters feel they are genuinly represented, if they are not they always end up voting with their feet.

 

The last few years people saw CIFC as Jeff and for "some" people, they saw paying money over the gate as giving money to a millionaire, even though it was the opposite and Jeff was actually subsidiseing the club.

 

The stuff about the website did not help and then, there was this percieved "secrecy" about numbers, people were counting the crowd and all sorts of nonsense. I think a vocal few people missed the point.

 

I hope this new era of openess and inclusivity continues, if it does people will come, not hoards but enough!!

If we budget accordingly we should be fine financially.

 

We can only have what we can afford, if we're lingering around the foot of the table all season then so be it. It shouldn't change the view of those of us on here who are the core of the fanbase and will keep returning despite where and how we play.

But what about the money that would have come through the gates from visiting fans in Ryman prem, from what i can see there aint too many teams in that Ryman 1 who will bring a crowd.Bet theres not much difference in playing standards either.

The Club have said they originally budgeted for Ryman 1 North, which is why the admission prices aren't being reduced to accompany the drop in League.

 

Therefore anything extra made from visiting fans in the Ryman Prem would've been a bonus, (probably to go to next season's budget or keep for a rainy day) and not something necessarily taken for granted. We would've been playing Ryman Premier football on a Ryman 1 budget.

I`m all for openess but i want the people who are running the club to be given a chance to do that without having their decisions questioned all the time.

P.S. I don`t think Hornchurch is a good example to give at the moment <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/argue.gif" alt="" /> It seems some of their supporters have upset the apple cart.
