Not sure if I really care, but what is the point of having a Canvey team that has no players from Canvey or the area, and doesn't play on Canvey.

You can talk player pipeline all you like, but at our level up and coming players from east London will have many more accessible opportunities to further their careers in that area so I don't see many of them progressing through the the full team.

Does the club get anything out of the deal?

If a boy from Canvey plays for Canvey, great. If a boy from London plays for Canvey, great. Not sure it makes much difference really.

The U18's have done a fine job representing the club this year and should be congratulated for their efforts and achievements.

well done lads. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

For everybody's info we have a successful U/18 team based on Canvey..they are managed by none other than Gary Britnell. It was decided that because many of them are still only 16 (last years U/16s) that they would play in a weaker league this year ( They are currently playing in the Chelmsford youth league U/18) they will progress to the eastern counties Junior alliance u/18 next year. This is where our Romford based team are playing this year and we couldn't have two in the same league. For your records they remain unbeaten in the league and cup..hope this helps..
Loyal supporters, Please refer to my previous post just incase you have not got the point...We have a dedicated U/18 side based on Canvey Island! To protect the park lane pitch they play their home games at Castle View School, Canvey Island. This Sunday we are at home to Loughton Youth. 1.30 pm ko. ..Any player who is good enough! yes good enough! regardless of where he lives is welcome to come training at the club on Thursday evenings. Just introduce himeself to Gary or John. They train at the same time as the reserve and first teams, the session is taken by Bill Sweeney.
So stop the moaning and Just get behind the coaches, managers and boys. The club is after all, in your hands the supporters....... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

When i was younger there was always people in my team that didnt come from the local area. Dont see what the fuss is all about. its good advertising for the club and i'm sure local lads could try out if they so wished.

Yeah, they've just got to get to Romford three times a week. It's not easy.
