Kettering Down

Recommended Posts

Kettering ARE definitely down - they are 13 points adrift of the side just above the drop zone (Woking), and have only four games remaining. Therefore, a maximum of only 12 points can be obtained.

Of course they're down, they're 12 points adrift of all those teams on 40pts, you're not seriously suggesting they'll win ALL they're remaining games, if they were good enough to do that, they wouldn't be in that position!

And even then 5 teams would have to lose ALL their remaining games

Don't worry GNFC are staying up

Talking of Kettering (from confguide):

Manager Carl Shutt has been sacked by Kettering Town following confirmation of their relegation from the Conference this week.

He was given the job in February 2001, and very nearly saved the club from relegation that season after a disastrous start under Peter Morris. Although they did lose their Conference status for the first time at the end of the campaign, they bounced back at the first attempt under Shutt.

However, the team have struggled badly this season, and relegation was confirmed by this week's defeat against Forest Green Rovers. Apart from a couple of days in December, the Poppies have been bottom of the table since 24th September.

The club's statement reads:

Carl Shutt today had his contract terminated by the club.

After a meeting today with Chairman Peter Mallinger, the Poppies manager left the club - who still have 4 matches to play to complete the season. Mallinger thanked Carl for everything he has done for the club and particularly for guiding us back into the Conference last season from the Southern League.

Mallinger added "Carl has always been a pleasure to work with, but we have to start to plan for next season and we need a manager within striking distance of the club rather than 100 miles away. It is simply not practical. We all wish Carl well for the future."

Dominic Genovese has been asked to stand in as acting manager and will be in charge of the team at Barnet.
