JOHN HEFFER

Just to say a goodbye to Johnny Heffer , who at the age of 37 played his last game in senior football yesterday in the Essex Senior League Cup Final . John has enjoyed a distinguished career in the non league game for some 20 years now. He holds the all time appearance record at Great Wakering Rovers , standing at 512 , and has played for some illustrious clubs in the past. John won the Essex Senior League with 3 different clubs and has now finally decided to call it a day .

Im sure everyone who knows him will join me in wishing him well in his retirement from the game .

I have got pictures of him in one of the first Whitecaps teams and another one called Eastwood Falcons or something like that.Also one with a Barking team,another with Southend Manor and hundreds with GWR.I had them from his brother Steve and we can only say:well done John,a great servant to non league football and something today's youngsters can only look in admiration.

Scored one of the best headers I have seen in the FA Vase game against Hounslow Borough, and its awesome he said that was hia favourite goal.
