Kettering Town

Recommended Posts

im pleased that Kettering are put in the Ryman League next season. This is because Bedford are NOT THE NORTHERN MOST RYMAN LEAGUE TEAM ANYMORE, makes us feel more at home, and secondly it re-ignites an old local derby from many years ago when Bedford were in the Southern League (doc martens)

As were both on thameslink hopefully we'll both get them as our bank holiday games (Xmas/NY/Good F/East M) instead of bloody "one man and his dog" Hendon.

And this from a fan of a club who managed to muster up a huge gate of 257 (less our fans and club officials) for third vs fourth - a game which ultimately ended up deciding which of us finished higher in the league.

You thought that was a big game, did you Hendonboy? You thought that third vs fourth decided which of us went into Europe and which of us had to go through the Intertoto?

No. It wasn't a big game. It was on a Wednesday. IT was Hendon. I'm not surprised there weren't 8,000 people there.

Course I wasn't expecting 50,000 there. I also wasn't expecting the second lowest attendance for a league game between the two clubs for over 10 years (the lowest being two years ago at Claremont Road when we were having all the problems). Considering the game was a usually well attended (500+) localish derby, which is usually taken fairly seriously by both clubs, with a bit of extra spice on the basis that we were actually challenging for an extra grand prize money (not to be sniffed at - unless you're St. Albans by the sounds of things), I'm suprised that so few of your lot turned up compared to normal. The Wednesday thing's little excuse since you hadn't played that midweek. Or the midweek before. Or the midweek before that. Or....

Point made well enough now?

I think it is good news that Kettering are in the league. They will have a good chance, they are keeping Matthews and have pinched Lodgey from under our noses and also Gary Butterworth who is an experienced midfielder. Think it will be good for teh Ryman!
