Are Coldplay 'rock'n'roll' after all? Surely not??

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has been arrested in Australia after allegedly vandalising the car of a freelance journalist.

Martin, who had been staying in Byron Bay ahead of the Splendour In The Grass music festival this weekend, is said to have smashed the car's windscreen with a rock.

Photographer Jon Lister told claims he had taken pictures of Martin and his entourage surfing at Seven Mile Beach when the singer became frustrated and demanded he erase the photos from his digital camera.

Martin, said to have been with a woman and a male Australian rock star, is then accused of smashing the windscreen of Lister's Jeep and letting down the tyres.

It is not believed Martin's fiancée - actress Gwyneth Paltrow - was there at the time, though she had been staying with the singer in the local Rae's hotel.

According to reports, Martin was arrested at his hotel later that day (Sunday, July 20) and charged with malicious damage.

New South Wales police have confirmed a 26-year-old English man had been ordered to appear at the Byron Bay Magistrates' Court on October 8.

Coldplay's head of security told Australia's Herald Sun he had not been aware of any altercation, but said it would be "sorted out".
