Biggest Mountain has to be about the best single they've done, followed closely by Find Out Why, Dragging Me Down, Two Worlds Collide and She Comes In The Fall.

 

Actually, they're all fking brilliant!!

I was always a big fan of Saturn 5.

 

Does it feel strange listening to them in the knowledge that Thornsy is mates with the keyboard player?

Biggest Mountain is one of the worst, my current fave is 'find out why'.

When you listen to that singles album you realise what a great british singles band they were!

Thornsy's fave is Saturn 5 too.

 

Personally I dislike that record. I remember when it came out, and it just sounded tired and old.

Biggest Mountain is in no way one of the worst. It was released at the peak of their musical creativity, and along with The Beast Inside album, is, for me, their greatest material.

And Saturn 5 is Clint's favorite Inspirals song and was number 100 in the Q poll of the best singles of the 90's.

I think it's ace - especially loud.

Dragging Me Down was one of their biggest hits, but Biggest Mountain certainly wasn't.

Yeah it was, it was off the Island Head EP. Preformed on that best Top of the Pops ever when the Roses, Mondays and Inspirals all played.

The Roses only ever played once, and that was in October 1989 (Fools Gold). That was the same show as the Mondays did Hallelujah.

 

Island Head (with Biggest Mountain on) was released December 1990.

 

That EP only made the lower reaches of the Top 40. She Comes In The Fall, This Is How It Feels, Dragging Me Down, Saturn 5, I Want You (to name but a few) all charted higher.

I remember seeing a great episode of TOTP in February 1990.

 

This Is How It Feels by Inspiral Carpets, Loaded by Primal Scream and one other I can't rememeber.

 

So impressed was I with the music, haircuts and flared-trousers, that I went straight out and bought Made Of Stone by the Roses, a song I'd never heard but decided I'd like because of their look!

 

It kick-started my teenage years, and I've never looked back!!

I had to wait another 3 years 'til I could start my teenage years. They were quite lame, thinking about it. Made up for it between Oct 1999 and July 2000. I think... I have trouble remembering....

Certainly the early to mid nineties was a great time to be a teenager with lots of good music in the charts.
