The Stands

Recommended Posts

Just read this review of it...

Once you accept that it is unlikely that either Bob Dylan or Roger McGuinn will ever revisit the glorious highs of their respective 60s zenith, you may be better prepared to enjoy The Stands.

Frankly, 'When The River Rolls Over You' is such a gloriously perfect lift of the mood, texture and, even, vocal timbre of mid-60s Dylan that it's like 'Love Minus Zero/No Limit' was never written. And who cares? Then The Stands move on to the woozy psychedelia of 'The Notorious Byrd Brothers' mixing up 'Draft Morning' and 'Wasn't Born To Follow' to similarly fine effect.

Admittedly, it's like the band were raised on a desert island with only a copy of the 'Easy Rider' soundtrack and a couple of Rickenbacker guitars for company. But that's kind of the beauty of it.

Presumably. I have a feeling it's late September, but don't quote me.

Also, I finally heard the new BRMC single last night on Virgin.

I tend to have that station on in the bathroom when I'm having a dump, and for the first time last night, I managed to listen to it for a good 10 minutes without hearing either Evanescence or the Chili Peppers.
