Given that Wayne Rooney has already reared his ugly head in this thread, maybe another analogy - his contract, which we all know expires in summer 2012 means that if somebody wants him before that date then they will have to pay a transfer fee! That is all I was interested in, will we be in line for some money if he goes, not how much he takes home a week etc.

How many assists does he have? His build up play is good, he holds the ball up well and he has set up a couple of decent goals

You don't Tony as you full well know, but I was responding to Wellsies comments re contracts or not that might attract interest from other clubs, hence the unapproval, not deletion as I and other moderators can see it.

Given that everyone in football 'taps up', surely if a club wanted to find out if a player was under contract they'd just contact him or his agent rather than spending hours wading through message boards?

Hours CE??? If they are after a particular player, Ishmail for example, it only takes a few minutes to look on a message board, hence my unapproval of the post.

Clubs will be looking at a variety of players, so keeping tabs on all of them on the Web would be quite time-consuming. In any case wouldn't it just be easier to phone a player or his agent up, rather than reading some Internet ramblings that might or might not be complete nonsense?

Agree CE but when it says solid info most would probably take it for fact. I personally decided to unapprove that particular post for that reason only.
