New teams in ESL

I've heard there's a few new teams in the league, APPARENTLY 1 is a Sunday side bankrolled by a multi millionaire Fc Bari anybody know anything this?

Rich.... your getting old Fella it was confirmed at the AGM that BARI FC have been accepted into the ESL and will Ground Share with Clapton FC' so nice new ground to visit For you all ( Enjoy)

Really????? Ramsden finished 2nd bottom in the 4th tier of the Olympian league and they'll be represented in ESL next season

I didn't think so either but that's what I was told, but then I was also told the agm doesn't take place till next week so who knows.

Sorry stand to be corrected it was not a AGM it was a meeting with the FA and ESL on Thursday , to say provisional Bari fc will be accepted into ESL, if they change there name and become a new team.

Oh yes they can. The following was taken from FA rules relating to the national league system

 

7. Election of a Club into a League

7.1 Usually a Club can only enter the NLS at Step 7. However, in exceptional circumstances a League may seek approval from the LC to elect a Club not currently in membership of a League within the NLS provided that there is: (a) a vacancy within its constitution (b the Club meets the entry criteria and © promotion and relegation issues have been satisfied.

Rich.... your not always right fella, anyway good news is there should be 19 teams in the league this season I can't wait.

i stand corrected but that ruling is usually only applied to re formed clubs but i agree with your sentiment the 'more the merrier' be good to see 20 clubs competing then we can get by with just the one league cup competition.

indeed but that was 10 years ago, AFC Wimbledon started as a new club at step 6 and Guersney recently joined the pyramid at step 6.

That's because the Combined Counties league has a Step 6, and the ESL does not. The same with the Spartan League.

 

Therefore whilst the ESL is under 22 clubs, bordering clubs would always look at going into the ESL as they can bypass a step.

 

Why do you think Enfield Town didn't go into the Spartan League!

I thought it was so they could play their first ever competitive match at Gardiners Close as they did of course back in 2001,an occasional for which i have a plaque for.

Can't believe the Standards have dropped so far that a team can come from the Sunday league with no Saturday level experience and join the ESL. Something needs to be said, surely there must be teams out there with more credibility.
