Canvey v Blues - Match thread

Recommended Posts

This could be one of those 'I was there moments!'

Same XI as Saturday please!

I was there, and it was a thoroughly deserved result in the end. Well done boys. You overcame all that was thrown at you by giving us a fully committed team performance. Did I not also see the first CIFC fans sneaking out with a good 15 minutes still to play

Oh and remind me when was the last time we put out the same line up in consecutive matches? Nice to see things settling down and the wins coming.

A good and committed performance. Quality goals by Sapps and a great assist from Robbo (lets not forget that he made the second).

If I did have a gripe (and it is a small one), it would be the amount of "go it alone" from some of our forward / midfield guys. Yes they have talent, yes they have pace, yes they are exciting to watch

BUT...

It is also exciting to see players make swift, incicive passing moves that bring players into the game and open up defences... There is a time and place for  individual skill but it's a team game!!!

As I said, a small gripe...As it was, we were a cut above the Islanders and played football... not the lump ball that they resorted to.

More of the same, please on Saturday and Monday...

IMO I find the sight of our forwards running at pace towards goal exhilarating. A skill diminishing in the modern game.

Never said it wasn't exciting... But I got frustrated watching a player run into an avenue when he could've passed the ball on several occassions and we could've either kept the ball or opened other avenues to allow one or two players to join the attack...

And before anyone else thinks I am being ungrateful or over critical and wants to gripe... read my post. This team have made incisive passes and does have bags of skill and individual skill, of which was well on display last night... I just felt we erred on the side of the individual at times when a pass would've have been a better choice.
