A couple of non league snippets

Is that correct?

Their last league match was 26th April, and their semi-final play-off was 29th April, and I thought the FA rule was:-

‘A suspension is always applied when a player receives a red card, the duration of the suspension depends on the offence.

Suspension’s start 7 days after the date of the offence. This means a player CAN play in-between the date of the offence and the suspension start date.’

Depends on the offence.

Serious foul play, and that ilk... next game.

Below that, and double yellows, 7 days after.

I wonder how many of us will be secret Boston Utd fans today?

I recall watching our first ever game in the Conference league (as it was called then) back in 1990 against Boston Utd. Slough won 2-0 with goals from Neal Stanley and Steve Thompson.

It does not seem like nearly 35 years ago.

No secret about it, come on you Pilgrims 😅

Worth noting that Maidenhead need to win and hope that Wealdstone don't win and Dagenham don't get a point at Solihull Moors or they are down.

Interesting post by Truro chairman Their local Derby next season is v Yeovil just short of 300 miles !  and 3 away games  2 just under and 1 just over 900 miles total  Says they are nearer to France than any away game!

That's what they used to say at Les Douvres where, it was alleged (maybe apocryphally) that Woking were once referrred to as "Dirty Nothern Bastards".

Nice to see a promotion to Step 3 for Uxbridge whose 1960 Corinthian League winning team I reckon I could pretty much name from memory. 458 to Cowley and a short(ish) walk. Decent bunch of officials when they came to Queen Street for a cup-tie in the noughties. Couldn't say the same about the team in those days.

I understand that Slough are opening up the Rebels bar for the Boston coaches to stop at for pre-match snacks and refreshments. A bit more income for STFC and a show of support for the Pilgrims!

Jake Tabor leaving Amersham having scored 54 goals at Step 5 which still wasn’t enough to get them promoted…. he’s looking for a new challenge.

With that sort of strike rate I would think he would be successful in at least Step 3.

Sounds good.

It was suggested by someone a while ago but heard nothing since.

That’s great if true!

It seems he's leaving because the manager has left.

Lots of hype on social media, from people who've never even seen him play, about him being good enough to play several steps higher purely down to the amount of goals he's scored at step 5.

He might well be good enough but it's also hard to believe that league clubs and local non league clubs haven't had him watched and snapped him up by now.

He certainly won’t be short of offers but difficult to gauge what his natural level would be? You’d think step 3/4 but I’m sure he’d be tempted higher. Problem is he’s so used to scoring so many and being the big fish will he want to ruin his reputation and sign for a team too high and not do well? Also odd that Amersham agreed to cancel his contract that he only just recently signed and miss out on a big transfer fee?

I'll be at York Road this afternoon. My friends (Maidenhead supporters) might be a bit tense, not sure about myself...............

With Boston having nothing to play for I can see a Maidenhead win.

Difficult to gauge the Wealdstone game as Halifax can still achieve a home draw in the play offs if they win.

Dagenham away to Solihull is any ones guess with the Daggers needing a win to guarantee safety but only a point to send Maidenhead down.

Worth making a note of there being a different FA rule regarding red card suspensions being immediate (not 7 days later) for play-off matches, and that the FA portal on suspensions can’t be relied on as it doesn’t have this sub-rule programmed in to it.

Who would want to be a Club Secretary?

Note:- I haven’t been able to find this FA sub-rule for play-off suspensions but it is mentioned in Stockton FC’s press releases.

Apparently it's Northern League rules which state that the usual 7-day delay only applies during the season proper, and that any pending suspensions start automatically for playoff matches regardless.

A massive goof for a club secretary to make!

Early days but Wealdstone 2-0 up after 25 mins  and with a better GD than Maidenhead

Half times

Maidenhead 1-0 up

Wealdstone 3-0 up

Dagenham 1-0 up

Am I not right in thinking as long as Wealdstone win (which at 3-0 you’d hope would be game over barring a disastrous ending), it doesn’t matter if Maidenhead win they’re still relegated?
