There will be update on the new signings later and injuries:

By all accounts the pitch is still very solid where it has been frozen over a number of nights, and as yet the groundsman has not been able to get on the pitch, no doubt we will hear more in the morning.

Has something changed about how the pitches are assessed over the last couple of seasons or Is it health and safety just going too far? I can't believe there is any doubt about tomorrow's game in view of the forecast for Saturday and the relatively benign conditions we have experienced over the last 48 hours or so unless the ground now has its own microclimate. Don't think we have had a hard frost since Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. There has been a damned cold wind, yes but not frozen surfaces. The way things are going with more extreme weather likely, apparently, the game at our level will become impossible.

Rant over, for now.

Very much so that games 10 years ago that would have been played, will no longer be played.. and that is because the officials do not want to get held liable if an injury occurs etc, and the whole blame culture that we live in these days.

Rebel1965 is right, 3G is probably the way forward, and could be the lifeblood of a lot of clubs in the future with the income it can generate.

Even against Weymouth the ref was undecided if the game should go ahead, due to a bit in one corner that was hard and icy, and where the assistant official was running.

Self sustaining undersoil heating available as well, where you get natural heat from pipes sunk 50ft into the ground. Just need to pump it around.

Apparently running costs are comparable to a 5 bedroom house for the year.

Only large cost is installing it unless you are starting from scratch
