Think the title race will be over before the champions elect host Salamis on the final day. Whether they'll be allowed to go up with their ground will be another matter though. No tenants should be allowed to go up either imo, so still much to play for beyond the top two I'd say, regardless of any playoff implications.

A groundhopper from another Forum was at Coles Park:

Due to year end w*rk related travails somewhat restricted in midweek scope currently and the initial thought was 'not another trip to another Barking @ Mayesbrook Park home match'. Noticed the following, though the South Midlands League is not normally on the midweek agenda and given that it is not the most difficult of midweek journeys, it was destination Coles Park for:
New Salamis 2 v 2 Tring Athletic - Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division
Prog 20 pages (3 blank) as printed by HP - Admission a measly £5.00 - Att. 60.

Rather enjoyable especially as one aspect of games that I do like seeing at this stage of the season is top of the table teams dropping points unexpectedly, especially to teams way down the table (Tring are 3rd bottom). There was a real enthusiasm about the visitors not normally associated with teams so far down the table travelling in relative terms a lengthy distance for a midweek contest against the in form table toppers. Explained away by the very amiable and chatty Tring secretary who stated that there had been a wholesale clear out of players a few weeks before after a mutual parting of the waves with the previous manager. New manager, a whole new array of players - several of them on loan from Kings Langley and with confidence rising after beating Hadley three days before they more than matched their opponents. Slightly debatable on the basis of a second half where they were constantly forced back into defensive positions that they deserved a point, but as one of the few home stalwart's stated that 'Tring were one of the better teams seen at Coles Park this season'.
After a mission trying to decipher the faded lettering on the team sheet that had been provided by the hosts, composure was regained in time to see an excellent opening from the hosts. They quickly took the lead when a drive from Ronan Hutchins from outside the area, could only be pushed away by Sam Soutar in the home goal right into the path of Ollie Butler who converted the rebound. They could have easily doubled their lead soon after as Butler's solo run took him past a couple of defenders, however the angle conspired against and all he could do was find the side netting.
Noted in the New Salamis the evergreen presence of 42 year old Derek Asamoah and even at such an advanced age he was a constant threat to the Tring defence, though there was a tendency from the home midfield to over rely on him. Harry Ogunseye went close for the hosts with a curling rising drive that just cleared the crossbar, however the pace from Asamoah running onto a pass from Arti Krasniqi outstripped the trailing Tring defence and he comfortably placed past the onrushing Jake Alley to level. Some further chances for New Salamis in the closing minutes of the first half, however the general consensus was that the least that Tring deserved for their first half exploits was to be on level terms.
The second half was somewhat different in context with the hosts largely being in control, the visitors also to some extent lost their defensive discipline and also indulged in some blatant time wasting. However, they held onto to parity at times rather fortunately for example when Asamoah's control took him into space however the outcome was a weak shot straight at Alley. They were also fortunate when a referee some way behind play only awarded a free kick when Asamoah was brought down right on the edge of the area, many thought the offence took place just inside the penalty area. However, Tring defended reasonably effectively with plenty of bodies behind the ball. However, the introduction of 3 home substitutes with fresh legs regained the impetus for the hosts. There was a hint of inevitability about New Salamis taking the lead when an excellent cross from the right by George Lutaalia (one of the aforementioned substitutes) was met first time by an equally excellent finish at the back post by Harrison Georgiou and the hosts top of the table post looked as if it would be continued. However, dramatically 3 minutes into stoppage a long cross from the right was mishandled by Soutar into the path of Harry Seabrook who drove the leveller through a crowd of players to the great elation of the visiting entourage. With Risborough's win over Leverstock Green, New Salamis conceded top position and Risborough's two games in hand looks like a cushion of sorts. Current top two meet at Risborough on last scheduled day of the season, a fixture that has been added to the virtual diary.
With Haringey no longer utilising the opening day of the w*rking week for their midweek games, trips to Coles Park are much fewer in numbers than in previous season, few changes since the last visit, however the visiting secretary whose last visit was a decade previously was most impressed at the improvements made.
Rather than travel into Zone 1 thus saving a few quid, chosen route was via Harringay Green Lanes and a 45 minute walk in both directions for those required daily miles. To the best of my knowledge, never ventured through this Turkish Community oriented area but the aroma's from the many eateries I am sure will entice back. Also passed the architectural splendours of the Salisbury Hotel which is an old Victorian gin palace, unsure if it is contained within this years GBG but it has a Cask Marque therefore it is worth a trip for the architectural aesthetics alone.
Easy journeys to and from Harringay Green Lanes with the Riverbank threshold being reached at 23.48.

View from the Boundary - AIso it seemed Iike a tweIfth hour postponement this evening with HarefieId United having traveIIed, I wonder who the inspecting OfficiaI, or shouId I say jobsworth, was. At this rate the tie wiII be reminiscent of the Haringey Borough v Fisher London Senior Cup tie a Iong time back, weII before Haringey Borough instaIIed a 3g surface.
