Yes cue me, for the last time with an actual View from the Boundary for this season. It might not have quite had the excitement of what's currently happening at the Bernabeu but very watchable nonetheless, the Bricks lucky to emerge with the 2-1 win which - so the talk pitchside suggests - will take them up, or to a playoff in any case as I'm told Risborough have failed the ground inspection and so will remain in the Prem next year.

Tonight's Jets were unrecognisable from the wretched side which only mustered one shot in Saturday's home defeat to Dunstable, despite fielding largely the same team. Sean Giordmaina scurried through and picked his spot nicely to give the hosts the lead after only 3 minutes. Hadley equalised midway through the half, putting it in at the back post from a corner with Jets as usual leaving 4 men up on halfway for no apparent reason, one of them being the left back who would have been far more useful where he should have been, i.e. the back post! Young Nathan Page might have made it 2-1 when one on one albeit from some distance, but hit a tame shot into the keepers midriff when the lob was definitely the better option.

Jets were well on top in the second half but hesitation, misfortune, misjudgment and a collective lack of confidence in the final third meant they couldn't make the net bulge for a second time, and there was an inevitability about the visitors doing exactly that with 10 to go.

3 first teamers return for the Batchworth derby on Saturday, and after the character shown tonight I'm confident we can give the Hares a good game.

Stotfold CHAMPIONS

CongratuIations to StotfoId, a groundhopper from another Forum was at the New Roker Park:

NEW ROKER PARK (JSJ STADIUM), SSMLD1
STOTFOLD 3 Shefford Town & Campton 0
Adm. £6, Prog. £1.50, Tea £1.30, KitKat 80p, Cask ale (London Glory) & mini Cheddars £4.75

Back in the land of living with a new ground for midweek, which is always a bonus.
Been to the old Roker Park so glad to visit the new one which is closer to Arlesey Station meaning I'm even less likely to see what the village of Stotfold actually looks like!
Gave the impression of a well run and friendly club that easily coped with the large attendance tonight. Plenty of wide empty space around the ground, but the main stand and cover are adequate. Decent toilet facilities both in the clubhouse and outside. Nice bar with two cask ales from the Greene King stable.
A win for the home side was enough to clinch the title and they just about did enough to earn it tonight. Have to feel a bit sorry for Shefford who played reasonably well, especially unlucky with the first goal from a penalty which looked to me like the keeper was first to the ball and suffered an injury after the home player ran into him, but the referee saw it differently, yet no cards were produced.
Was quite glad they scored again just to make it a win fair and square.
Comfortably back to the station in good time for the 2205 despite the game not finishing until nearly 2145. Able to get good speed up despite the recent virus attack, so that should serve me well on the next Folkestone trip.
The lack of establishments in Stotfold and Arlesey meant pre match food and drink was courtesy of the Hitchin Wetherspoons, where Titanic, Nine Tenths Below was a pleasing find. Then the Beer Shop, where a good offering from Burnt Mill and a lovely green apple sour from Vault City went down exceedingly well, along with a few purchases.

Tuesday 12 April

Premier Division
Crawley Green 4 Broadfields United 0

A groundhopper from another Forum was present at The Brache:

Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division - Crawley Green 4 Broadfields United 0 - Admission £3 concession - Programme online - Attendance 42
Destinations were restricted tonight as I had to be in St Albans until around 7, so a quick trip up the M1 to see Crawley Green at the Brache, which is Luton Town’s training ground, was ideal as it was a new ground for me. Additionally, with the home team bottom of the table and in desperate need of points, the match wasn’t going to be an end of season bore.
It ended up being a rout, with United finishing with nine men on the pitch, but it could have been very different, all based on a controversial refereeing decision.
Crawley Green took the lead after 15 minutes when Joe Hankins took advantage of some sloppy defensive play when a United player tried to watch the ball go out for a goal kick. Hankins kept the ball in play and pulled it back for Jake Kissiedu to easily score. Things got very heated several times with the referee seeming to lose control, although the players behaved better as the match wore on, in the main.
Two goals early in the second half seemed to have settled the contest. First, a ball over the top found Hankins beat the offside trap and he got the better of the keeper on a 1v1, and within a few minutes, CG won a penalty when Harry Gallagher clipped Dario Borval in the area, and Borval stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Then, controversy as home keeper, Loris Marcimain handled outside the area. It had to be a red card, as they’re the rules unless I’ve got it wrong. No, maybe I am wrong as the referee, after consulting a linesman, gave the keeper only a yellow card. Patrick Tshikala fed Borval who sidestepped one defender before scoring inside the near post to make it 4-0 with 16 minutes remaining. With two minutes left, a home player got a knock and was being treated when Gallagher must have said something to the referee who showed him a second yellow card and the red, and then Ismael Ehui who had only just come on as a substitute, also spoke out of turn and he was sinbinned for the rest of the evening.
So, a good win for Crawley Green, but with London Colney also winning, the position still looks dicey with CG four points adrift at the bottom of the table.

There's no mention in the match report of when Richard Pacquette entered the fray at Horsenden Lane on Tuesday evening so it remains a mystery, perhaps Dom CasseIIs couId reIiabIy inform us :
