Barkingside 0 Eton Manor 4

Recommended Posts

Just catching my breath now!! What a performance form the Manor Boys. Turned out in their new Yellow & Black away kit for the first time, look the dogs, and played some fantastic football. Sammy McCarthy & Asa were causing Barkingside all sorts of problems all evening.

Credit to Barkingside they are an attacking team and try to play decent football. Great hospitality and a great bunch of people.

Plenty of Manor support there tonight, added to the perfromance. Thought Chris Barrett was superb tonight held the back line together with Marshy. Thought the ref was a bit poor.

35 points in the bag! getting closer to the new target of 40+ points for the season.

Well done The Braves.

Sure is Cleggy, makes me wonder had we found him earlier in the season what the outcome would be right now. Our biggest problem all season is putting away our chances! Oh well if we manage to keep this side together next year I will know the answer to that question!

Didn't think I had my best game of the season, first half especially, but thought things settled well in the second half as EMFC took total control.

Strange game to ref - very fast start with little structure / pattern to the play - not helped by a couple of 'curious' assists from my Linos which gave a very untidy appearance to one or two decisions.

The Barkingside player who went down on the stroke of half time with chest pains was a bit of a scare but I believe he is all ok now and the pains turned out to be a pulled muscle rather than anything to do with his heart.

Will try to impress you more next time I see you Manor_Born!!

Nice of you to come on line and give your opinion, heard about the side player and i'm glad he's ok. Please don't try too hard to impress MB, as he's on a personal crusade for the club, and before you know it, you'll be selling programmes at Tilbury next season.

I appreciate the job is hard, and my criticism is not personal. I really don't expect to be impressed, I just want to see fairness for both teams. To blame your linesmen is poor, you're the ref! you take the responsibility.

Incidentally, we do need someone selling programmes next season when we ground share at Tilbury if you are interested!

Regards MB

My point entirely. ETFC supporters have been criticised for 'having a go' at the refs in some of their matches this season. It certainly doesn't help for officials to do the same to their colleagues.

Just think of the Russian lino last night at Manchester! What do you think the ref said to him afterwards? I wonder if Sir Alec shook his hand and said well done!

If you read my comments again I have not criticised my assistants or made any suggestion that they were poor - simply observed that a couple of instances led to confusion between the 3 of us and a couple of decisions looked untidy. In fact the only direct comment about anyone's performance was that of my own which I feel could have been better on a number of levels in the first 20 minutes or so.

As for post match - we do have a de-brief when we discuss things we all could have done better, and this took place on Monday night as usual.

I believe that commuication between Match Officials & Clubs / Spectators, when in the correct fashion, can only be a positive thing and will ultimately lead to less criticism of officials. Abuse & abject criticism do little to further the game on any level.

Was there any need therefore to mention the curious assists? I think not.

Let's hope you do not get too many when we eventually play Southend away. I believe you wanted to be kept on the game after the postponement back in February.

I am sure we will be able to make up a song about it.
