What's in a name?

Recommended Posts

With all the talk this week about Ford becoming Redbridge, and last season Purfleet becoming Thurrock and joining in similar names to the ones already existing.

It got me thinking about clubs who play at a ground with the same name as someone else.

I will start with the most obvious.

Exeter City & Newcastle Utd. - St James Park

Sporting Lisbon (I think definantly a portuguese team anyway) and Sunderland - The Stadium of Light

Espanyol of Barcelona play in the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium.

Lazio and AS Roma of Rome play in the Stadio Olimpico (Olympic Stadium).

Galatasaray of Istanbul play in the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

In addition to Hertha BSC of Berlin and Bayern Munich, which I mentioned earlier in this thread, 1860 Munich also play in the Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium).

Ajax of Amsterdam played in the Olympic Stadium until 1996.

Spartak Moscow play at the Luzhniki Olympic Stadium.

I expect there are some more.
