He has been released by Palace, but is likely to stay in the League.

He would be a terrific signing but unfortunately I believe he will stay in league football as he looked a class above even despite the fact he had not played for several months due to injury

Ben looked a quality holding midfield player, very assured on the ball, preferring to play the simple, short accurate pass than a killing 40 yarder, the like of which Perky was so good at.

However, we have Macca, Protheroe and Saunders all doing a similar job now so competition from such experienced campaigners would have been very fierce for Ben. At his age he does need regular 1st team football, ever at a lower level if necessary, to build up experience.

I do howver think now that Walshie has been released by QPR it might be worth a discreet enquiry,especially if he doesn't get snapped up straight away. His wage expectations might go down.
