My prediction is that around 70% of the games will be rained off. Otherwise:

Bowers & Pitsea 0. Enfield Town 0.

Concord Rangers 2. Brentwood Town 0.

Romford 3. London Aspa 0.

Waltham Abbey 2. Burnham Ramblers 1.

With rain forecast for today and tomorrow I would probably have said a higher percentage, if only for the fact it's most teams last home game before xmas.

Groundstaff may be prepared to risk it, given the pitches will have a bit of time to recover before the next game. That said, it will be ultimately up to the ref on the day.

If the B&P v ET game does go ahead, it's extremely unlikely our Essex Thameside Trophy home game v Tilbury next Wednesday will go ahead.

As for your 2-1, the pitch may have a say in the final result, but I still fancy Abbey to nick it by the odd goal.

Oh dear I was right with you until you mentioned the pitch having the final say.

Let's be frank about the issue, as history will tell us. In all my years at the Abbey I have very very rarely heard a team (and I mean players) go away from Capershotts having won and moaned about the pitch. Having lost yes.

Pitches are the same for both sides on the day and a question is: If players at this level are really that good why can't they can't adapt?

Also have you noticed also that at this level everyone seems to expect a Wembley surface when 20 years ago people were grateful to be playing Senior Football? Interesting dont you think?

I wasn't having a pop at your pitch in particular. I was referring to all pitches that become churned up, which often suits a lump it forward team (not saying that applies to Burnham) as opposed to a team that likes to get it down and play, e.g. yours. We often hear the phrase "The pitch is a great leveller".

There was a thread some time ago that asked "Who was going to win the ESL". Back then I said WA, ET then BR in that order. So I expect Burnham to give you a good game, both teams will have to adapt to the conditions tomorrow (if it's on) but I believe that Abbey have that little bit extra quality in their side.

And the results from the Romford jury are:

Barkingside 2 Stansted 0

Bowers & Pitsea 1 Enfield Town 0

Concord Rangers 3 Brentwood Town 0

Romford 6 London Aspa 0

Waltham Abbey OFF Burnham Ramblers

Gordon Brasted Trophy.

Hullbridge Sports OFF Basildon Utd

Having rained for a few hours, I am sure Crapershotts will now be like the Amazon delta so no go there, Hullbridge's pitch after some precipitation resembles the Somme at 9.15am, July 1, 1916 and Bowers, unless they have improved the drainage, is often suspect after the odd downpour. I am sure Romford will go ahead though.

Personnaly I think we play when we can and defend when we have to. We have a little bit of pace in the right areas and some players with an eye who can pass. Others just dig in if they have to. The boys work hard on their fitness too which always helps. Tenacity is the word I'm looking for.

Talking of pitches our home record speaks for itself but our boys themselves always say they like to play on better pitches. How good could we be at home if our pitch was perfect? One wonders???

When I get a moment, I'll post a funny story or two about what players from EFC think about promotion-and what happens when you whisper in their ear things like the 'ten year' rule. Not sure DM knew anything about it either. Almost made up for the defeat!

But that's another story....

The main difference between the two clubs is the average IQ. Maybe this theory can be proved at the quiz next year?

I reckon you really enjoyed yourself with the wind up. They had no idea about the 10 year rule hmm <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/laughuncontrollable.gif" alt="" />
