Right then. This is off the top of my head. I am sure, like most people, it would take a month of Sundays or Essex Senior League injury time, to work out ones definitive list.

50s (Yes old enough to remember them)

Twilight Time - The Platters

60s

All or Nothing - The Small Faces

70s

Anarchy in the UK - The Sex Pistols

80s

East End boys and West End girls - Pet Shop Boys

90s

Rocks/Funky Jan - Primal Scream

00s

Can't think of anything that has really floated my boat since the mid 90s.

Which Country Club, Epping? That used to be our ground when I was a Sunday manager. Great place especially early season when the swimming pool was usuable. Everyone wanted to play us in pre-season matches. Finish the game and off to the then posing centre of Essex...aka The Retreat. Sadly no more now though.

The Retreat was one cool place in the 70s and 80s. Johnny Driver the owner used to park his gold roller outside the front door and if your car was more than a year old, it got parked on the streets outside as the car park was like a show room front.

Had trouble getting to the bar in the 80s as you couldn't move for shoulder pads! But the totty was par excellence.

Back in the office tomorrow. You down the club today? I've got the short straw and will be cooking dinner. But the upside is I will be doing it in the style of one of my greatest heroes...Keith Floyd. A gargle of vino with every stir of the pan. It would be rude not to.

What is the SP for next week. Meet in the Sultan about 1pm? Let me double check that the Sultan is the pub when you come out of the ground, turn right and then about 150 yards on the left? If, so quite enjoyed it there a few years back and a couple of tasty barmaids who actually knew what a bottle of Pinot Grigiot was!

Burlimey, Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy has just come on the radio!

Good. I expect a Royal welcome from all the Townies I have used and abused over the past year or so! And make sure the wine is very, very, very chilled.....

Might go down the club later, not sure at moment. I couldn't cook a slice of toast, useless me. Once I phoned up the missus to ask how to put the grill on and she said if you just look to the left hand side the silver thing with two slits in the top would be an easier option....doh

I don't booze before a game, usually get there between 1 and 2. Not sure about the barmaids! went in there last night after our disaster, yes it is that one by the way. Nice pint of Carling Cold mmmm

I have a 23-year-old like that. Thinks an egg is a stress ball. That is why she still lives at home.

Quite a dab hand at the old cooking myself. Really enjoy it and experimenting and I rarely follow recipes. And the wine that goes with it always helps.

Have to close this link soon, we will have all the Townies telling us to get a room!

Coup, what about the New World Inn or Coombe Lodge, great places for a night out.

Used to DJ in the White Hart Pub in Market Place Romford and The Bow and Arrow Pub Harold Hill, the bow was the place to go and see the landlord beaten up by the locals
