Probably. But then again, Porter is probably on a decent wage and hasn't been seen for what seems like months. At least with Macarthy he plays with passion (and through the pain barrier). Look at his run into the box in the 88th minute today. I was very close by and he REALLY wanted to help Fleet get a goal back.

It's a good thing that we still have players prepared to get hurt to win the ball and play with heart.(Skins, Prothers, Conkers, Macca, Buncey, Jay and Ben).

Even though they cost us points, I can live with simple defensive errors. Who in their life hasn't made one.

What I CANNOT put up with is lack of committment. If you pull on the red shirt, it shouldn't matter whether you are on £100 of £900 per week. You should all play with pride and passion.

I don't know about him being on £900 a week, but with that cultured right hand McCarthy deserves a shot at the world middleweight title. I can see Bernard Hopkins having sleepless nights over him. Thug.

Per week, taxable of course..!

This dough mixed with the players regular jobs makes for a nice lifestyle.. The club will need to stump up at least double this amount to entice the players full time. And, if they get the Marketing right, they should be able to manage this easily one would hope.

Most of our problems are down to fitness/stamina, how can any of our players be expected to out run a full time player when a few hours ago he just finished painting a lavvy..!

It seems tome it is not relevant how much the players are played, as long as the comments made above by Chatham Gary are true. Pride and commitment to the club and playing with passion mean alot more to the fans. If we suddenly could buy Michael Owen, and pay him £50,000 a week, we would not be happy unless he scored 30 goals a season. So £500 or £50,000 a week, we all want the same thing, the player to give his best for the club.

I have to say I'm surprised. I always wondered how much the players were paid. At first, I thought £500 a week couldn't be true, as then they'd be full-time. But considering they could fall down the pecking order and leave for a lower-paying club quite easily, I guess it all makes sense. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
