Popovic Released

Popovic has been released by Gravesend & Northfleet at the player's request. "Pops" felt his first team chances were limited and wants to trial with other clubs.

 

With Graham Porter back from injury and Gary Richards having joined from Colchester as defensive cover the club still has four centre halfs to select from.

Understandable I suppose, but then we conceded 5 at Dagenham so maybe we need more defenders!!!!!

We don't need defenders full stop. WE NEED A STRIKER WHO CAN ACTUALLY SCORE ONCE IN A WHILE! unlike the current most popular 1st choice forward, who hasn't hit the right target for 3 months.

Not forgetting that the "current most popular 1st choice forward" is our top scorer on six goals. Also if i remember rightly our tactics are to have one tall man and one short man up front, and that we struggle to play with two short forwards due to the long balls.

Give him service he will score, he did when we were winning all those months ago....

All I can remember is his hit & hope 25 yarder against Exeter. The others seemed so long ago it was almost last season.

Speaking of strikers, I think we should give Manny more of a chance. I think he has that much experience in the Football League he can hopefully change things around.

Correct me if I'm wrong Gordon, but I've kept my own tally in my homework diary and I think you'll find that the scorers are as follows:

Manny - 7 (1 in trophy) (8 if you include the own goal at home to Barnet, because he got the last touch before the defender)
Roy - 6
Jay - 6
Jukebox - 4
Skins - 4
Macca © - 2 (3 including 1 for reserves)
moussa - 2
Proths - 2
Pinno - 1
Jacko - 1
Lovell - 1

Manny's goals were against Morecambe, York, Barnet, Daggers, Farnborough(2) and Eastbourne (trophy Replay)
