My first AFC Hornchurch game on Saturday

Hello all,

Your resident Southend United poster here. Due to scrimping on the pennies due to looking into buying a new car, I shall not be forking out for the travel as well as the £23 it costs to get into Swindon on Saturday, and I notice you've got Stansted at home on Saturday. I shall therefore be making my first visit to see you since you've turned into AFC Hornchurch.

Possibly a stupid question as it's probably shown elsewhere but how much will it be to get in? And what sort of crowd will you expect? I was at Thurrock Vs Eastleigh last week with a meagre 226 others, although it looked a lot less and 30 minutes before kick off there were 31 people in the ground. Despite the drop down in Divisions I imagine you'll better that?

Good to see you doing well this season and I really hope you get back up the leagues in the shortest time possible.

Good luck for the season and I shall be interested to see how things go on Saturday. Any players I should look out for? As from your current team I've only seen Sean Dear play and I only really know of Charlie Bull and Billy Drake as well.

£5.00 to get in. we've been getting around 300, but i expect that it will be closer to 400 on saturday as 1) we won last week and 2) it's the FA CUP!!!!

steve king and greg tiffin on the right are tidy players and billy holland & danny heale with 12 goals between them already are quite a prospect.

see you saturday <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Indeed, very good, Max. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I shall look out for those then. Greg Tiffin was at Orient previously wasn't he. Having seen some of the goals on your excellent AFC Hornchurch TV then the quality looks better than perhaps a Football League fan might expect. Then again there is some true garbage about in the Professional game, although seemingly not as much in League 1 as we seem to be finding out so far. I seem to remember a cracking chip in one of your home games the other week? Was that Heale?

For £5 you can't go wrong and I shall look forward to my first game at Bridge Avenue this season.

I'm sure I will. I do tend to enjoy my trips to your games as the atmosphere is, I imagine, the best you could get at Conference South level and now in the Essex Senior League. A few other Shrimpers have taken in the odd game of yours and said the same.

Indeed, we have a habit of switching off in the final minutes before half time. Although yesterday it was nice to have the roles reversed and punish Oldham dead on half time. Things are alright for us, and we do seem to be looking occasionally to the Non League scene as well, what with obviously Freddy Eastwood and Mitchell Cole, and we also seriously contemplated signing Paul Benson from White Ensign who's now at Dagenham of course. We were considering splashing out a considerable amount on Dennis Oli, but we came to our senses and didn't fall to Micky Woodwards £100,000 ransom.

Cheers though.

Andy - the news on the savings front is even better in fact. I was at Southend today looking at the black tailed godwits and mediterranean gulls.

Petrol at Southend was 99.9p per litre.

You can get it for 93.9p per litre down here.

So if you fill up with 50 litres here, you will save yourself £3.00, which in effect means you will get in at HFC for just £2.00 net.

my feeling is we may get a decent size crowd in for saturday, reckon the gate was lowish last sat because of the england match,a mate of mine said he didn't know the kick off was at 1,so i told him to check the forum in future,he said he will, seems to be a few people already talking about saturday so i reckon it should be a good un!!
