Weather was cold & dry.

The first quarter of an hour saw Billericay come at the Iron with all guns blazing. This was to be expected from a side with recent mixed fortunes & a desire to be top dog in the local derby. After that the half settled down to a more even affair with Billericay always the more aggressive.

Braintree had the best of the chances. The first coming on 17 minutes when a cracking shot from Joseph from distance was tipped over the bar by home keeper Millard. On 32 minutes Joseph was again involved when his dangerous cross was headed out for a corner. Eugene Ofori was yellow carded on 32 minutes after several tussles with the home defence. Braintree got the breakthrough on the stroke of half time when Ofori cracked a super shot home.

The second half saw Billericay applying the same effort but Braintree edged their opponents for much of the time. On 53 minutes James Baker was fouled for the umpteenth time & this time it was in the penalty area & a penalty was awarded. Alex Revell's penalty was well saved by the keeper but the shot lacked Revell's usual venom. Quinton had a good chance soon after that. On 67 minutes Riddle replaced James Hawes after another vicious Billericay foul. Close to full time Ofori was sent off for a second yellow card offence. On the stroke of 90 minutes Billericay got their equaliser when a powerful shot from Matt Game gave the Iron keeper no chance.

Result 1-1

My men of the match- Joseph & Lorraine

The result was probably just about right. As usual when we visit New Lodge the referee has a certain bent in favour of the home side despite them being the principle aggressors.

Next match away to Walton & Hersham Saturday 17th 3.00pm"

Gazza, due to sickness I was not at this game.

But just a couple of questions, without wanting to sound like ozgit, and quoting stats but which team finished with 10 men?

Principle aggressors? really? us? makes a refreshing change
