"Chelmo" 2 v Ricay 1

Recommended Posts

Well Balmoral, if you follw the link you'll find where Craig Edwards got his training tips for the Chelmsford players players

http://www.padi.com/

I have never seen a team play so little football and come out winners.

Atmosphere? Joke of the afternoon was the constant calls from so called Chelmsford (you're a Town and you know you are) supporters, "come on no. 9....come on number 11". Supporetrs!!! Hah!!! Redbridge would put you to shame.

As for the game, Chelmsford played to script. Break down the play, stop us from playing. First half some tackles that were certainly bookable and didn't. Second half, [****!!****] me, at home? time wasting. It was a joke. If Chelmsford supporters want to pay £8 for that, you're welcome to it!!!

Saying that, Jamie Richards, the no. 9 took his goals well. When we scored our goal 10 minutes from time, we looked like a different team and Chelmsford looked poor but again, too little, too late.

"Hame" supporter? - is that a deliberate attempt to take the p**s out of the Scots or was it just a freudian slip?

Sorry Gazza - I AM an "even handed Chelmo supporter", and therefore won't comment further on the grounds that I WASN'T there and am therefore unable to form my own opinion of the game. And I AM bright enough to appreciate the differences between the home and away supporters interpretation of a match - but then I should be after 60 years shouldn't I?

well then, you would know that opinions differ depending on the "partisan" view.

Or did that escape you when you posted your piss take message?

As it was, for myself, I was going to leave it. Presentation done, quite happy to say "ta, ta and good luck" to your club until I read your post....

60 years old and you lowered yourself to that!!! Nice to see some things still stayed with you when you left Chelmsford.

I thought Chelmo deserved it on balance of play, although I wasn't too happy with a couple of challenges (that even made the home fans round me wince) where the ref should have showed a card. If we'd played like we did in the last 15 throughout it might have been a different result. The new Chelmo MP fans were whistling with more than 5 mins to go, probably because they weren't sure how long a half normally lasts, but they will learn. For a 3,000 crowd the atmosphere was appalling. Any noise that was made at the ends went straight up into the sky.

Lastly a mention of the bar, or lack of it. I thought that the staff working were tremendous but they were let down by poor management. There was a shortage of plastic(!)pint pots, a lack of beer and too few staff. Early days I know but you'd think that the Commercial Manager has got previous experience and would have geared up appropriately, after all we knew it would be a full house.

I wouldn't like to watch football at MP too often as it came across as very sterile but beggars can't be choosers and at least its in Chelmsford.

I agree with Blockhead, I thought we were very poor until the last 10 minutes, yes they may of stopped us playing, but what are they supposed to do, stand back and let us win? I really don't think we have anything to complain about. I also thought they were unlucky with the goal disallowed in the opening minutes, Millard never had the ball under control.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the pitch. It was dead. The ball didn't bounce and looked difficult to play on, I assume it will improve over time.

Well we were absolutely dire today im afraid. Control was awful, and the passing even worse. Very few efforts on goal. We had a small bright spell towards the end of the match, but managed only one goal from it.

The atmosphere was pretty poor for a 3000 crowd game. Not a surprise though in a big ground with lots of casuals. What made me sick was all the first time supporters singing 'we love you city' etc etc. Yeah love them so much you couldnt travel 10 miles down the road to see them once in 10 years. No real problem with the proper city fans, today was obviously a big day for them, just the plastic fans that piss me off, acting like theyve been going all their lives. Always the same with gloryhunters for big games though.

Billericay turnout wasnt particularly impressive for a local derby anyway.

Enough about the crowd, all that matters is what happened on the pitch. Very disappointing performance after a decent run. Were far too inconsistent these days. Chelmsford deserved their win and well need to improve vastly if were still aiming for that play off spot.
