300 bus from Stop 12, St Peters Street to Adeyfield Road, Hemel Hempstead. Arrive at 19:05.

 

 

Coming back I'm not so sure about as the only bus from Hemel to St Albans at night is the 340, which only runs once an hour, and I'm not sure of its route. I can't work out if it goes along Adeyfield Road or not??

 

The return fare is about £4, but if more than one of you are travelling, you can buy an Explorer Ticket for £6 and share it. I think the maximum is four people to one Explorer Ticket, but don't quote me on that.

 

 

Does anyone know which route the 340 takes coming back from Hemel Bus Station to St Albans??

As far as I know the bus can go either along the dual carriage way or through the industrial estate, therefore I would recommend walking to the bus stop in Leverstock Green near the pubs.

Is that much of a walk. By the Leather Bottle??

I would say just under half a mile. There's a bus stop before the Leather Bottle, but I don't know if the 340 stops there. Doesn't the university bus go to Hemel 602?

There is a stop before the Leather Bottle but it's about the same distance away from the ground. See link for details, click on any of the stops for a map - might be useful.

Talking of buses, anyone know what buses go to Hitchin from St.Albans,also from what bus stop in town.

Right, let's see how good my memory is - this takes me back to around this time last year when I was doing the journey every day!!

 

The 314 (I think) goes from the station, and also the town, to Hitchin, via Wheathampstead, Kimpton etc.etc. It takes about an hour.

 

The other way I used to do it was to get a bus to Hatfield (of which there are several) and then get the train from Hatfield to Hitchin which is pretty easy.

Going back to the subject of Hemel. Hemel is a glorified second world war refugee camp, that they forgot to close down, and release its inhabitance. They've been left to rot.

Laz-Unfortunately no,there won't be any booze in fact it's not for me. My friend is going to see her mate's band in Hitchin tomorrow and I promised to find out how to get there-even though I'm not going. Perhaps I should demand she let me come along.
