From NLD february 2002.

''Perenial strugglers Hornchurch continued their challenge for the Ryman League Division Three title with a 6-0 victory over Clapton on Saturday.

The Urchins made light of an improving Clapton with a a four goal burst in the final 15 minutes of the game with two goals each for Chris Marsden, Craig Cripps and a single strikes for Nick Lowery and a debut goal for 16-year-old Nathan Elder on his debut as a substitute.

The victory takes the Urchins to nine points behind Aveley with two games in hand''

Remember that, Chris Marsden? yeh he played for the Saints of course.

Crippsy? good player at that level and an English U18 International.

Ground was dry, windy and Clapton were to put it mildly useless but as one of the founder members commanded respect whenever they played anyone.

Nathan of course is now knocking them in every week if you get my gist!

well it was only a single...?

the next game was a home game (against aveley I think) and I brought jonah down with me....we sat in that old red wooden stand with the 3 ft high steps and it cost me a first class train ticket to get the bugger up from bristol....

I got him pi55ed in the turkish restaurant in Hx later and made him sign for us....

everyone thought he was only interested in dosh and had signed for 1500 a week...truth is it was nowhere near that and most weeks he never collected his wages....a real star was jonesy...

Yeh I remember Taff nearly getting sent off after some communication with the ref at the 'ol Stadium, Taff was giving it everything to get a place in the team and wound everyone up that night, and that was a Blues v reds practice game!

Struck a good partnership with Vinny in the Prem and could strike a deadball as good as anyone.

But Jonah started it all off, along with Rizzo and Benno of course.

The time at Imber Court, home of Met Police, Bryco Cup, we annihilated them 4 0 at half time on the best NLF pitch I've ever seen. Second half Jonah's talking to me all the time saying that he was gonna get a through ball and tuck it away, sure enough Lockie sent him on his way and the ball planted firmly in the corner. Should have seen the Centre Half's face!

Wolffy did us proud in previous seasons, vied with Fowls at Croydon Athletic for top goalscorer but yes he did miss and so we lost 5 4 on pens.

Rizzo a class act until done by that Spring fella at Barton le Cley, made his comeback at Marlow and scored, then scored again in the pre season friendly at Tonbridge but left us soon after, a good Centre Half though and nice bloke.

I recall my first Hx away hooligan experience..we went to leighton town (buzzard) and lost that season (march I reckon) and there were a few bevied up local inbreds all over me and bailey...we managed to swerve 'em and on the monday I sent a letter to one of their directors complaining....I got a letter back on their notepaper saying

'welcome to ryman 3'....

Mick Marsden and Jonah discussing the pros and cons of his running back during the game. "Jobbo for England".

Westy when he broke his leg on that cold and strange night.

George Borg throwing the stretcher on the ground, for the away player.

Gary Hill chucking his tea after Clarkie did another of his runs to nowhere.

Boston, Darlington, Tranmere are but a few, but my favourite was eastbourne away when the missus nearly started a fight with the locals. Quality
