Broxbourne - More cash than sense. Again nice people. Will be disapointed again as cash spent will not equate to league position

Seems that people think players at brox get alot of money... 6 of 11 1st team are only on win bonuses. a few are over paid but there aint loads of cash.

i think we are in with a chance for the title this year got good starting 11 just need a couple more players to streghten.

Evening BroxBoroBlue (I'm sure you were FormerBlue a minute ago!), I take it the "we" you are refering to is Broxbourne. Good to get a response to my initial post. Like I say these are my views to kick things off and I hoped others would add their thoughts. Who else do you think will be up there and down at the bottom?

PS Don't be too hard on Edgware you may upset Gavin. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/achso.gif" alt="" />

Is it right you're ground sharing with Hounslow Borough this season or has that fallen through, I think they got promoted to the Hellenic League P

I understand that it has indeed fallen through. Can't say that I'm too surprised. The Hounslow website is a very quiet place at the moment.

Have you been to the Hounslow forum? If not someone is pretending to be you AND claims to be a Hounslow supporter. Anything to say in your defence Cliff?

Sorry Manorborn really long story, how long have you got, if you really want to know I will PM you, you people don't miss a trick do you. Nice to have Broxbourne Borough onboard, I probably know Blue if he was at the Haringey games last season, both were played at Goffs Lane as 'we' had floodlight failure and switched the home game just a few hours before kick off hiring a fleet of cabs at great expense to get everyone there. Broxbourne will be there abouts this season but still think the championship will be between Edgware, Hertford, Harefield and Aylesbury.

Yes excellent first post to this thread Manorborn, pretty spot on too. Anyone else want to have a similar go Club by Club, will be particularly interested in Haringey Borough. Perhaps someone will cover the First and Second Divisions too so we know who to watch out for, apart from Kentish Town that is.

AFC Dunstable, Consistantly challenging for the Division 2 title over the last few seasons. They are an ambitious side who despite there best efforts keep getting undone by lask of facilities (a common problem in South Bedfordshire). Once again they will be up there and are my tip for the title.

Aston Clinton, fantastic season last time out which saw them clinch the title with 90 points in which they only failed to win five games. Not overly impressive at the 61 where we should have done a lot better but they still took home the points! Score goals a plenty (142 last season, thats over 4 a game on average) but the general consensus is that there set up isnt great and they may struggle to keep any success going over a longer period of time, however I can't see them having any problems this coming season and i think they will come second.

Caddington, hard side to predict are Caddington as they can go on long runs unbeaten then all of a sudden struggle to get even a point. Lower mid table for them this time round.

Crawley Green. Great set up at Crawley where they seem to have a hundred teams, they won the title two seasons ago when they had a bit of money pumped into the team, though they werent as good last season they were still one of the stronger teams and finished 5th, i expect a top 6 placing this time round.

Flamstead, average Div 2 team, beat who you would expect them to and lose to the ones at the top, lower mid table.

Kent Athletic, surprise package last season and were slighlty unlucky to come up against two teams in the form of AFC Dunstable and Aston Clinton. Will they do so well this time? I think it will be a hard one to follow but they should be looking at a top 6 place- though i dont think they will put up such a good charge for the title.

Kings Langley, strong Div 2 side who pulled of some great results last season (won at both AFC Dunstable and Aston Clinton) but just dont seem to be able to go that one step further and become challengers. Im going to go for a 6th to 8th finish for them.

Loughton Orient, wooden spoonists last season with an absolute terrible finish that saw them lose 16 matches on the spin. Conceeded 145 times in the league with 16 goals being shipped in one game alone at Tring Corinthians. Amazingly after all this they still finished on the same points as two other sides!!! Unless there is a big change they are going to seriously struggle and i predict bottom spot will once again be their's.

Markyate, another struggling side they finished level on points with Loughton. Picking up points will be again at a premium for them this time round and they will probably finish bottom three again.

MK Scot, a side that was formed by members of the old Abbey team made technically its first season in the SSML a solid one. I think they may find it a bit harder this season but they wont struggle.

Mursley United, another team who had a miserable run to the end of the season and whilst i can see them improving they still will be at the wrong end of the table.

Old Bradwell United, had a good season and finished 7th,a bit of a surprise to be honest and they caught a lot of teams out early on with their form. Cant see them doing the same this time so ill say mid table at best.

Padbury United, good two seasons ago and rubbish last season. Leaked 137 goals on there way to second from bottom place and once again it looks like a three way fight at the wrong end of the table for them.

Pitstone & Ivinghoe, now heres a team that has been hampered by lack of facilities. A few seasons ago they could have been in the Premier Division but lask of floodlights cost them, for the same reason they now find themselves in the 2nd Div and havent done particulary well in it either. I think that its about time they did though and they could be a surprise package.

Risborough Rangers, would have been disapointed with last seasons finish of 12th and will be looking for an improvement. Unlikely to make top 6 though.

The 61 FC (Luton), now what can i saw about 61. They are a team who should do better than they do but poor discipline and bad attitute lets them down on numerous occasions. Should finish mid table, can do better but will they?

Totternhoe, I thought they should have been challenging last season as they are a good side but they finished 8th. They have plenty of goals in the team and if they can sort out there defence they will be up there. If they do then 3rd or 4th wouldnt be beyond them.

Tring Corinthians, great season for Tring who like Aston made the step up with ease. Score goals for fun (106 hit the net last time) and any team who can score like that will be dangerous. If any team can break up my top two of Aston and AFC Dunstable it will be Tring.

I always believe that these sorts of predictions are a bit pointless at this level as they are all based on existing management and players which, in over half the cases, will change over the course of a season.

Even at Premiership/Football League level, there are too many outside factors that make it impossible to predict anything like accurately. The vast majority of people expect Chelsea to walk away with the title again, but what if the Russian mafia catch up with Abramovich around September/October time? Even individual matches are unpredictable given the nature of certain referees and the ease with which yellow and red cards are waved around in most games.

Probably explains why you never see a poor bookmaker!

What news of players at the Manor, Steve. You obviously have/had an insight into this. I've heard from the chairman that ALL of last years squad turned up but I've heard (via here) one is poised to sign for Brook House, Matt Plaskett turned out for Leverstock Green yesterday and others may be on the move.

Many of the youngsters are leaving, not surprising whe you hear the comment, "You don't win F... All with Kids" Nick played for Brook House yesterday, Gareth is also training at Brook House but if it does not work out will possibly try another SML Club. Matt Plaskett Reserve team player of the year played for Leverstock against Brook House and did not look out of place. Frankie has gone to Chalfont with Ray Walsh, Toddy and Cooper, not sure where Steve Carr has gone, possibly Chalfont Steve Flower has signed for Harefield.

Cheers Steve thanks for that update. I guess there was always a danger thats the way it would go. Good luck to all of them, they all did brilliantly for us.

Yes Julian is First Team Coach at Ruislip whereas the chap you got from Beaconsfield Sycob I think it was is the Manager and will wear the trousers as it were, well tracky bottoms or shorts then. Peter is the Polish gentleman who, as you say Steve, was at Kentish Town too along with Julian a couple of seasons back, should be some interesting times ahead at Grosvenor Vale and I wish you luck for the campaign, you deserve success for being a genuine Club who care about the beautiful game at our level.

I wish I was that clever <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
On a serios note its suprising the amount of players we attract of different nationalities in to the non league football circuit. We had a great little Italian (Mario Noto) last season

Cheers Manorborn, PBFC you are right that these things mean little at the start of the season, last season there were a fair few surprises in Division Two and no doubt will be again this time around, still this doesn't stop me from wanting to see peoples predictions.

So does anyone fancy doing a Division 1 version then?
