Slough come back from two goals down to force draw. Goals from Matt Glynn, scorcher from a free kick where Maidenhead weren't ready, Daryl Harris and Leigh Mason.

Starting Line up included (3-5-2)

Kieron Drake, Marc Leach, Jamie Jarvis, Steve Daly, Ian Duncan, Matty Glynn, George Moleski, Leigh Mason, Gareth McCleary, Adam Wallace.

Wallace went off after 25 minutes following a heavy tackle to be replaced by an unknown triallist and Rav Braith, Ian Lovegrove, Daryl Harris and an unknown triallist keeper from Oxford City all appeared as second half subs.

goood comeback today. far from a great performance but we battled away. we looked a bit dodgy defending set pieces. daly does not seem good enough im afraid. hope we get salisbury in. i thought harris was very promising as was glynn. the alexis lookalike has potential. mason and moleski worked very hard

Here's my opinion for what it's worth...

Considering that's the first time most of them have played together that was not too bad today.

Drake did quite well in goal with three or so good saves. The sub keeper also did little wrong when he came on.

The back three looked a little bit dodgey to me, but they will need time to get use to each other and that will get better. Disgaree with the comment on Daly - thought he played pretty well. Just a but worried about the back of pace in a back three of Jarvis, Daly and Leach though.

Thought Leon had a good game at left-wing back today. Duncan looks solid and a decent defender, but for me not a wing-back if we are playing 5-3-2. Sure he's be OK as a right back, but not too sure at this early stage as a wing-back, but it's his first game again, so lets give him time.

Central midfield looks promising. Thought Glynn and Mason linked up particually well and that bodes well for the future. Mason seems much, much more happy in a central role than he did on the wings last season. The only concern in central midfield is that if Wilko's not playing there is a lack of a tough tackling midfielder. Think that area may be good though when Alexis comes back in.

Can't really comment on Wallace as he went off early, but G had his excellent moments as always and think althogh I think that although Daryl Harris still looks a little raw, he may be someone we can help develop as he did well. Not sure about the unknown trialist that came on.

not a bad performance for the first 90mins of the season, second half was much better than the first. agree mostly with you chris, but have to disagree slightly on duncan i thought he tried hard to get forward, but may not quite be used to the style that eddie wants him to play.

thought glynn looked like a decent signing, knows how to strike a ball, leach did ok too.

was however not impressed by our forward triallist, but thought harris did quite well, seems to have a bit of ambition in him, just needs a bit of maturing.

was it glynn who threw himself at the maidenhead player in the second half AND won the free kick?

Yeh that was Glynn. Best decision the ref made the whole game.

My thoughts are the same as Chris' to be honest. For the first match I thought it was an alright showing especially as we came back from being 2-0 down with essentially a new team.

The only downside to me is that we need quality strikers, it was unfortunate for Wallace to go off injured so early as I thought he provided a lot of strength for us upfront before he went off. However, I was not impressed with the unknown trailist who came on as his replacement.

Oh and could Saulsbury be returning? Saw Roy having an indepth conversation with him during the game, would definately have him back.

definately would be a very good move, would really like to see him come back, we need a younger defender mixed in with the experience of leach, daly, and dare i say it, jarvis, although should saulsbury return i would be surprised to see jarvis in the team with the other 3 there.

No wonder we struggled with only 10 men <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Thought we started as 5-3-2 with Woody and Duncan as full backs, pushing forward at every opportunity.

Firstly, I must give credit to the team for not giving up and snatching a draw.

Plus points:

Drake, Leach, Glynn (just his final ball let him down) Harris (looks pacy with an eye for goal)McCleary.

Minus points:

Passed it once or twice and then gave the ball away by lumping it forward.

I think it would be worth trying a front two of Harris and Wallis with McCleary sitting just off them firing the bullets.

I'll reserve judgement on Duncan and the unknown trialist until i've seen them a few more times.

No one's said anything about Marc Leach...seemed ineffective both in defense and going forward. Is he a trailist?

I thought Woody was outstanding.

I don't think anyone was outstanding but I did think Woody played very well. Jarvis seemed to settle in well and put in a few meaty challenges.

It's bound to take a few games for the players to gel/get match fit but overall a promising start.

Nibbles, if you need any help with the info, give me a shout...

Thought Woody and Glynn were our shining stars today and the goal gave Harris a lot of confidence as he grew a lot after his header. The only problem with the back line is it is too slow with the current personnel, and I think we all know who I would have out of the team in a shot....

just names Gaz, because i have a spreadsheet of every player in the game

onto the game, and our defence looks shaky. You either play one slower defender in a back three alongside two others who are quicker i.e. Daly, Saulsbury, Murphy, or a flat back four with deadly quick full backs. We have neither system ready to go.

Midfield looked stronger, but seemed to only ever be looking for McCleary or Woodruffe if he wondered forward. We can't be one trick ponies in this league, but the midfield looked strong and with a Wilko type should be our redeeming feature from the season.

Apart from McCleary, none of the strikers looked good enough. Wallace may have only had 24 minutes, but he wasn't good for those minutes, the Alexis lookalike looked too slow for this level. Harris had one decent moment and that was it. Drake looked competent, but playing behind a defence that shitty is going to harm him more than anything.

Not at yesterdays game but it appears we are in no better position than last year. A poor slow defence placing another good keeper under pressure. Middle of the park needs some bite with the forward line needing a Hodgey. Early days I know but just feel it could be a very long season.

To be fair I thought out midfield wasnt bad, maybe swap Alexis for Moleski alongside Glynn and Mason and there will be a lot of energy and players that will be able to put through a great pass and that can finish.

Dont forget this is the first match that these players have actually played together so give it time.

Tuesday should be intereting with Wallace, Duncan and what looked like Glynn injured.
