We also mustn't overlook the vastly improved disciplinary record this season with Bryan as captain, as well as what appears to me to be a more 'togetherness' of team spirit.
Oh well thats alright then ,No fighting spirit = Good discipline,Togetherness how nice !!??!! . I'm sure we'll go far with that sort of attitude . Grit determination is whats required my ressie friend . none of this good discipline malarkey , as long as we get results who cares about bookings or the occasional sending off. Get Real Sponsor of Beer .By the way whats the odds on Bryan Sun shines out of him Hammet starting as captain tomorrow >>>>>Pretty good me thinks.

That's a very balanced view.

Any idea how much in fines the club has had to pay out in recent seasons or the reputation that it has?

By 'togetherness', I meant that the majority of players now tend to stay in the bar after games and will happily talk to fans. That didn't use to happen, and was a talking point for players from other clubs. Players who'd walk into our team.

Whether Bryan is the best choice I can't say. Personally, I worry that forwards' games are based on confidence, and that will always be difficult to balance with the responsibilities ofcaptaincy. BUT, how many real options for captain are there at the moment. How many players are certain of selection week on week?

Hang on, I heard every single word of that sentence on Tuesday night, as quoted by the chairman.

Whats all that about then?

Oh yeah by the way, who was our most booked player last season?

Didn't the players used to pay their own fines? As far as I am aware they did.

So fewer bookings is all down to the captain is it? I suppose a lot of it is but not in the way that's been said!

I think the departure of a couple of players is the sole reason for this - one already back and one some on here would like to see back, precisely because of their determination to win.

Not many candidates for captaincy? We only ned one and he was good enough last season!

I didn't think that Rudi was a good captain and I have said so, in so many words on this board, a better choice would have been Russell but there you go.

I also believe that Bryan is a better captain and he has been able to calm things down at times - there have been fewer bookings for arguing with the ref. Of course that may be due to the FA's campaign.

Should players pay their own fines? If they can perhaps they should but what if they cant - do we loose players because they have little money and feel that they have been booked unfairly. But then if a skint player gets away with not paying his fines what about one rule for one should be the same for all.

Also I was told that the club were threatened with a fine themselves for their poor disciplinary record. Do the players then put there dosh into a fine pool? Hmm wonder what some of the "good" boys would think about that.

Out of towner is right about one thing what matters is success - not players talking in the bar to fans, not the number of bookings, not whether a player continually gets picked because he is the coach's son. The important thing is to keep winning. I believe that Jim understands that and he knows that is how he will be measured and that is the only way it should be. If we dont achieve success because of lack of funds then Jim has to realise that we have lost £2000 at least this season because of two results and he has to take responsibility for that.

I am sorry Jim as I know you read these threads but I think you understand where the buck stops as far as I am concerned.
