I turned up to find spectators were to be charged £2 to get in, glad to say this was soon dropped. This was a real ground out win which could have gone wrong. Don`t like a win is a win from some when concidering this team is now third in the league (Ramsgate did us a favour v Sittingbourne) and should be playing accordingly.

Will need to this coming Sunday, Maidstone Central again in a PLAAYA Cup game. Don`t mine paying for this, especially if it`s as good as last meeting.

Reseves tomorrow, Up the Gate.

In case you missed it in Friday's Gazette...

Margate won their 6th league game of the season with a 1-0 win over Deal. In a game of few clear-cut chances at either end, Margate took the lead on the half-hour. Andy Johnston tackled a Deal player on the left. Johnston came away with the ball and, after cutting inside, he slid a neat ball through to striker Chris Lewis. With a drop of his shoulder, Lewis feigned right, but took the ball to the left and crashed it into the corner of the net. Toward the end of the half, striker Shane Brown had a couple of shots and Margate keeper Matt Bowles kept them in front when he advanced to bravely smother a rare Deal attack.

The second half again saw few chances. Paul Axon worked tirelessly on the right as did Daryn Vanhinsbergh on the left, Nick Argyrides marshalled the Margate defence and in midfield Olti Keci, Elliot Payne and Dan Hughes battled hard. The introduction of substitutes Anthony Woodward and Jamie McClean brought renewed vigour to the Margate attack. On 85 minutes, Woodward latched onto a Saul Anderton clearance and his shot thumped against the Deal cross-bar.

Team: Bowles, Argyrides, Johnston, Anderton, Payne, Hughes, Axon, Keci, Lewis (McClean 70), Brown (Woodward 55), Vanhinsbergh Subs Albrecht, Collis, Evans
