Warning to all shopping in Thanet

Just received an e-mail from my wife which reads as follows:

 

Dear All

 

Just to warn you thet there is a gang going around Thanet copying debit cards and I've been a victim.

 

NatWest phoned me on Tuesday to say they were cancelling my debit card as I've used it in a shop whwere they have been known to copy cards. Anyway today I looked at my Bank Statement and £177 has come out at a ATM machine in Italy!!

 

Just been up to NatWest and they said the Police are involved and there have been dozens of cards being copied in Thanet. It takes just one dishonest member of staff to copy your details. Someone has stood behind me and recorded my PIN number!! Scary.

 

The bank won't reveal which shop it is that I've used, it could be anywhere.

 

So pleas hide you PIN number when you shop in Thanet!

Well then Nat West should be held responsible for all future losses as they know where it is happening but not warning people properly.

 

Hopefully it is a shop at Westwood Cross so that should stop people using the place

I have now been told that there is credit card scams going on at local petrol stations. The two worst offenders are apprently the one opposite the Sportsman Pub in Cliffsend and The one in Hereson Road Ramsgate. The simple rule of thumb is when entering your pin cover it up (remember the cctv cameras can be trained on the pin pad). The best way is to hold a piece of paper over the pad as you enter the number.

Its always a good idea to check cash machines before you use them. On some of them you can tell that they have been tampered with, Im always a bit suspicious when someone stands too close to me in the que aswell. Trust no one!!
