DIVISION 1 - which teams to look out for and what up and coming Players

Recommended Posts

I don't know anything about the lower leagues of the Spartan League, we only see what Rhodes tells us.

What players from the 1st Division could make the jump up to the Premier division, and who are the best teams in the league who are up and coming? (Rhodes please do not just mention K.T.F.C).

What clubs and players are worth keeping an eye on if any?

Saf - Agreed except that I personally think 14 of the 16 teams in Division 1 could hold their own quite comfortably in the Premier, I predict that the winners of Division 1 in April will win the Premier next season, Nottingham Forest 1977/78 style.

When you do quote of the season I'd like this to automatically be my choice!

Personally I can't see Brimsdown winning the premier next season!!!

coming from two people representing div 1 clubs this post is hardly surprising, your under estimation of the premier division could be your down fall if you are to ever be promoted next season, you are forgetting teams that may get relegated next year from a 2 leagues above what you are playing now, and to add you are loosing games at the moment which cannot be afforded in the premier division especially when trying to Win it! remember inspector Confidence is good but arrogence will get you no where!

Im sure there are some teams who could do well, but most certaintly not win the league with their current squads. That is a poor statement, I believe the standard of the SSML Prem is good currently I believe the loss of Hanwell Town and Potters Bar has been catered for by Hertford and Edgware although I dont think Hertford are as well set up team wise as Hanwell or PBT when in the Prem Div.

Edgware has a lot of ex Ryman players, that I am aware of their ability and a few other clubs have recruited well. Their is a gap in the leagues, over a long season that would become apparent to those who move from Div 1 unless they have recruited well. Any team that wants to come up from Div should recruit players with experience of Ryman or SSML Prem Division now if they can. It would be the additional push they require to get up and then stabilise in the Prem

Luke Smith (Cockfosters) and Andy Martin (Hoddesdon) have both played Ryman Div 1 for PBT this season. Smith played Ryman Prem for Wealdstone last season. Both could easily hold their own in SSML Prem.
Potters Bar Town - I see you are hiding in the shadows this morning. Do Smith and Martin both get paid at Chalk Lane and Lowfield respectively out of interest.

Okay let me put it another way, were they both paid at Parkfield when they played there earlier in the season.

Well it's relevant that if they were paid by you earlier in the season they will surely be getting money to play at Cockfosters and Hoddesdon albeit at a lower level, just answer the question.

NeutralFan - Is that supposed to be an immitation of the good people of Nigeria when Clement Temile goes back home for a visit or indeed over here occasionally.

I have seen it with my own eyes when I have been out with Clement so it does happen, actually it was quite embarrassing particularly for Clement as he is not a person who is comfortable with publicity and stardom, he is a very modest person.

The reference, which you know very well, was aimed at your comment to PBT to answer the question when you blatently avoid answering questions even when consistently reminded!

To answer the question (unlike you 90% of the time), Potters Bar Town have only ever paid contracted players and neither of the two players in question were on contract. Players may be paid reasonable travelling expenses, where relevant, but who those players are and what expenses they receive are an internal matter within the club.
