David, due to your position in the club can't you perhaps ask at the club whether or not squawk would be allowed to wear the cossie for just one game? I'm sure you'd put in a good word. VOTE SQUAWK

Suspect the problem may be getting hold of the suit - if majorman6 is on holiday on Saturday, he has possibly already left and I think he paid for the suit himself, so I guess he may keep it at home.

Actually that wouldn't make any difference because it would about two weeks to complete the Police check on whoever took over, so we will just have to resign ourselves to the fact that there will be no mascot on Saturday.

Whilst I can see the basic logic of a police check for the role, it seems the world has gone mad, when we need to police check someone who would be in full view the whole time.

I guess he could incite the crowd, but then again, thats the purpose of a mascot isnt it, ie to really get the crowd going??

And you coukd scarcely see the mascot jumping into the away fans to pick a fight, at least not if he's got any common sense - on second thoughts, its squawk we're talking about, isnt it !

Wot, Hooky might be Home Alone!

Unless Sqwark can find/hire a similar outfit it looks like we'll be without our mascot this week.

Maybe he can dress up (if need be) as a typical pirates mate... a parrot! Sqwark the Parrot (Hooky's bird).

Nothing to do with incitement, it's a requirement under the Children's Act 1989. (or thenabout)

As far as I'm aware, the only teachers on the playing staff are Lee Shearer & Steve Perkins. Don't think you'd get much support from Andy for tying them up all game as Hooky Mark 2.

However, I believe our Safety Officer & Head of Security is also a qualified teacher. As well as providing a replacement who doesn't need a police check, isn't this also an excellent opportunity for our Security Services to experiment with undercover operations?

Get Hookyed up, Bob!

The dream is no more. I am guessing that hooky is on holiday already as i have messaged him with no reply, and there are no postings on here from him.
Just out of interest if i had been able to get his costume would i still have had to jump through hoops to get on the pitch?I undertook an extensive police check before getting my current job.

Thanks to all those who supported my campaign.

From my junior football experiences I believe if Squawkident is under 18 then he doesnt need to go through the police child protection check
