Back to Clarke!

As far as I'm concerned, Daniel coming back to Town last season may well have cost us the League title. After a tough start we really did well in the first half of the season with Smith and Cove. Daniel coming back upset the structure of the team and also the morale as well. Thank you Daniel for all your work in your first stint with the club but you showed disloyalty in moving and I remember Jim at a meeting in the close season saying that Daniel was holding out to see whether we would go into the Ryman league or not before he decided what club he wanted to play for. We do not need attitudes like that. I hope that he has played his last game for the Town.

Happy speaks the truth (on ths occassion!)

At our level, if a player has a chance to play at a higher level, then fair enough it would be churlish, unreasonable, and probably not possible anyway, to stand in his way. If it doesn't work out, there is no reason why they should not return. But they should explain their intentions to the manager and keep him informed of the situation in an open and amicable manner.

Mucking about jumping between clubs at the same level or in the same league is somewhat different. It depends on the circumstances and how it is done. Of course players will wish to transfer for time to time, for whatever reason, and if they choose to leave us we wish them well. After all, we aim to acqure players from other clubs too. But again it should be open and amicable, and they can't expect to chop and change and muck people about.

A different kettle if fish is if a player is asked to leave for a misdemeanour of some sort. There is no way then that he should be invited to return.

By the way, I see that Paul Furlong is one of the top scorers in Division 2 - sorry, I mean The Championship - at the moment

The better way of looking at it is goals per minute played....

Taking a minimum of 20 games played you get the following

Clarke..........1 / 140

Cooper..........1 / 144

Cove............1 / 162

Nyman...........1 / 180

Smith...........1 / 180

If you want to take goals and assists as a ratio to usefulness

Cove............1 / 88

Clarke..........1 / 95

Nyman...........1 / 95

Bunn............1 / 98

Cooper..........1 / 106

Morris..........1 / 108

Smith...........1 / 113
