Comedian Dave Allen, famed for his dry, witty routines, dies at the age of 68.

Met him a couple of times at Butlins, Bognor. (Summer of '63, I think ?)

His brother was camp comedian and Dave and his Mum came down to spend some time with Johnny.

Johnny was brilliantly funny, but very eccentric. If my memory serves, he ended his life by sky-diving off a multi-stori car park.

A sad loss to comedy on both counts !

RIP Mr Allen.

Given his particular brand of humour, I wonder if he has some explaining to do..........

St Peter will be looking at a rather long but very funny defect sheet and my bet is St Peter will not be able to keep a straight face

I'm sorry that he's gone, but equally sad to hear about Tommy Vance who I understand died earlier in the week

63 I think. Died after a stroke. Another legendary broadcaster passes on, and so soon after Peel
