chaps just to clear it up....

with regards to the ESL only the champios will be promoted.

the 2nd place team may be considered if the champions fail the ground grading but even in this even the liklihood of obtaining promotion is slim.

this is due to there being 12 places available at step 4 and 15 step 5 leagues. you do the math!

in any case the top 3 in the ESL presently all have the correct facilities to be promoted so such debate is unnecessary.

the odd point is you have dead end clubs such as ilford, waltham forest and tilbury who are currently all at the bottom of the league (i discount wivenhoe as despite their plight they seem highly ambitious at present) and if leyton take the drop to the ESL they will once again avoid relegation.

why not relegate them and promote an ESL club with the ambition to do well. clubs like concord rangers, burnham ramblers, barkingside, enfield 1983 are all equiped and desire step 4 football.

The ahtletics have already moved away and the track is barely used aprt from a bit of training and the odd school sports day. In addition, the track is now at the end of its life and would need replacing anyway.

I know a couple of blokes that work at the QE.Health and safety/possible future compensation claims mean the continued use of the track is a liability for the council.Which is why they have systematically reduced the use of it over the last few years. Will the council pay 200k out of their own money to replace the track and let a couple of clubs use the grass area in the middle?? I seriously doubt it.Haringay and picketts lock have already (will) become the home of modern. Athletics in Enfield

Anyway.Just two points to totally put this to bed.

1. ETFC or 1893 would not be allowed by the FA to share their home ground with another sport (another football club yes.Athletics NO

2.Current athletics rules and regulations states that the longjump pit and run up has to be outside the track area. That is impossible at the QE.A study was done a year or so ago that showed the only area available to place it was too contaminated to house an open sandpit, and that it would be economically un viable to clear up the area. Thus ruling out future competitive athletics at the stadium.

I think you are wrong there Malc. AFC Hornchurch share with an athletics club. The Ryman rukes state that only two sporting clubs can groundshare, which is why Rumford are not moving to Bridge AVenue.

Canvey Island or Redbridge or Ware or AFC Sudbury

Eastern Counties entrant will be decided on 3rd May when Soham play host to Needham Market. Unless Needham lose away to Dereham tomorrow night then Soham would need just a point or lose by less than 7 goals. What a way to finish. chat
