Teams in pitch battle over Lowfield

By Alasdair Gold

A LESS than civil war of words between Hoddesdon Cricket Club and Hoddesdon Town FC could see Town miss out on celebrating the 35th anniversary of their FA Vase triumph at Lowfield.

Sport - LowfieldThe two clubs have shared their Lowfield ground for 110 years, but with Town allowed sole use for 32 weeks of the year and the cricket club 20, tensions often occur where the two seasons overlap.

Originally the pitches also overlapped, but the football pitch has been moved south over the years until they were separated by a small strip of land.

Despite this, a breakdown in relations

Same sh@t, different day. Nothing new here regarding our well documented problems with our relationship with the cricket club.

in what way? There is nothing in our set-up that contradicts the rules governing step 5 clubs, unless I'm mistaken?

Have you seen Hoddesdon Cricket Ground... if they turned the wicket there would be no room for bowlers run up!!

Maybe they could bowl off spin and leg spin at home and just use the fast bowlers with the longer run ups for away fixtures !
