Server Change

Hi,

 

Due to varous issues, I am moving this site to a new server this week. If all goes to plan, you you see very little downtime - perhaps 5 minutes at the most.

 

The new server is a Dual XEON machine - initially with 1GB, but I can up that to 4GB for a one off payment of around £800 (ouch!)

 

Hopefully the site will benefit from the increased processing power. In the meantime you may notice some slowness, and 1 or 2 very short closures, whilst I take backups.

 

If anyone spots any issues, please let me know.

 

I will let you know when the move has been completed.

We have one or two links that might error out - and also the mailing lists are still on the old server.

 

I will have the mailing lists moved, and all links updated tomorrow.

Okay - most forum related items are working - but currently links / chat / graffiti / games are all down due to a php error - hopefully I can figure out the problem shortly.

99% of all sections are now working again.

 

Still as no one has posted in here - nobody can give a monkies

 

I would be grateful for reports back on the speed of the site now - if anyone is bothered

Hello ian...i've found the speed ok but twice when i've clicked on index it has come out"page cannot be found"..but after refreshing the page it's ok.

Probably propagation issues - although I tried to get downtime to a minimum - your browser is having to pick up the pages from a new location, with a new IP address etc.

I get a few warning messages when I deal with private messages, other than that, everything OK.

I wouldn't have known that the server had changed if you hadn't have said so. Great job!

 

I'm having problems with what is marked as read when I have a longer session. Otherwise, I haven't seen any problems!

Hopefully any cookies issues will sort themselves out.

 

You can also try deleting your cookies (via the link at the foot of most pages), and logging back in.

thats all bollox from germany...everyone knows its all changed...especially me....

 

my computers crashed...the whole server that runs it has blown up...russian hookers are again appearing every two minutes...I've got a virus in me emails.... and my whole life has been turned upside down....

 

I want the name and address of your lawyers warmsley...this is serious...

 

I'm suffering post forum stress and mental disorder....
