Ref Off Ref - I heard on the grapevine that only one Club will be getting relegated from the Premier Division, presumably Langford.

Rubbish!!!

23- 1 relegated -1 promoted = 21. Therefore space for 1, who will fill that spot ? Div 1 winner or a relegated step 4 side? How many teams will be relegated due to ground grading?

What could happen

23-3 relegated -1 promoted =19. That leaves 3 spaces for a 22 team league. 2 promoted from Div1, 1 relegated from step 4 or 1 promoted from div1 and 2 relegated from step 4. Who knows what will happen?

Monday 4 April

Premier Division

3 2 Kentish Town v Hatfield Town

An interesting report on this affair last night from another's Forum:

BARNET COPTHALL STADIUM

KENTISH TOWN 3 Hatfield Town 2

Spartan South Midlands Premier

Admission £5

Programme £1

Tea & Aero Bar £1.20

My second attempt to see a match here proved worthwhile and once again the Spartan League produced the goods with a quality match

This is not the easiest of places to get to by public transport which is quite surprising considering it's in Greater London! Some careful research beforehand enabled me to tick off another Wetherspoons at Tally Ho corner in North Finchley. From there I took the number 221 bus at Stop P in the bus garage, which is the only route that passes near Copthall Stadium, this also calls at Mill Hill East Station if arriving by Tube. Do not alight at the stop announced Copthall Sports Centre but wait until the next one at the corner of Page Street, the main entrance to the Stadium is a few mins walk down on the left, however it is then a further 5 mins walk to the actual stadium entrance! It seems that whichever way you approach there is neither a bus route or station conveniently situated

After the match I tried another way, and retraced my steps to the corner of Page Street but turned left into Bunns Lane and followed this along passing under the M1 bridge and ending up back at Mill Hill Broadway Station, I would say this is a much easier walk than that from Mill Hill East for those still to visit here.

The ground offers a warm welcome and excellent facilities including a good tea bar 'Copthall Cafe' which has a large selection of chocolate also, probably the best toilets I've seen at non league level. The grandstand is a masterpiece of concrete architecture and is high enough to give a good view of the pitch, however, the wide running track and the fact the stadium is very isolated means there is a deathly silence at times and lack of atmosphere, a shame because it's probably the best of the athletic grounds.

The match was the usual fine standard as always for the Spartan League. Hatfield scoring first thanks to an own goal by the home defender heading back to his keeper when under pressure and unfortunately misdirected into the net Kentish Town equalised before half time to keep in the game.

Surprisingly the home side kept the pressure on Hatfield in the second half and made some good passes when attacking, and the second goal was a cracking volley into the top of the net, then a third was added, again thanks to some more good passing. There were a few bookings at this point, as seems to be common with matches involving Hatfield Town! And a break away goal set up a tense 4 mins injury time for Kentish fans, they were lucky when the assistant ruled out an equaliser for offside in the last minute which looked a very close call. There were lots of celebrations at the final whistle and they certainly enjoyed their win and it may save them from relegation.

Programme was basic but tidy and up to date, so no complaints there. A good night out

That seems quite pricey doesn't it, I wonder whether it was an old fashioned Aero bar or the new slimline one

Keeps - Well I know Kentish Town used to charge 50p for a cup of tea in a mug so lets assume, for arguments sake, that it has gone up to 60p, that means an Aero Bar is 60p which seems a bit over the top particularly if it is the new slimline version. The groundhopper didn't say whether he bought a chocolate or mint one but presumably they're the same price anyway.

Has Rhodes not ventured out recently, has he not heard of inflation, an aero in your day Cliff may have cost just a shilling, or maybe you just as usual talk sheer b*****ks
