Found some details for some missing reports from towards the end of the horrific 2006/7 season.

06/07 Season - 3 reports

Still missing five reports from that season which is a personal frustration, although given our results that season, we're not missing much I'm sure!

I've got 22 reports from 92/93 season which will be added to the site in the coming days. 33 reports to find and then we will have a complete set of reports dating back to the 1987/88 season.

I would have Matt Crossley and Darren Anderson as my centre halves. Both had weaknesses but as a pairing I could see it working.

The midfield and forward line is a nightmare for trying to accomomodate players, as the choice and quality is fantastic.

I would go for the pairing of Dave Carroll and Ian Hazel in midfield. Carroll the class passer of a ball and made his position look effortless. Ian Hazel had a great engine and would run all day. Both willing to shoot but neither afraid to close down.

Right wing has to be Steve Guppy, as he made it big in the professional game, and is the most natural fit in that position. Left wing I would go for Mark Fiore in his prime. He was so exciting to watch and had enough skill on the ball to dazzle against most defenders. Cruelly injuries blighted his career.

I would have to pair Steve Thompson with Keith Scott up front. In their prime both electric for very different reasons. Thommo the ace in the hole and dribbling skills second to none. I would prefer to play him behind the front two but this line up suits a 4-4-2. Kim Casey or Andy Sayer are better fits as a number nine but that means sticking Thommo in centre mid in place of Ian Hazel which I'm loathe to do.

Keith Scott just about edges it up front of Paul McKinnon, as I only got to see the older version of McKinnon and while still technically very good, Scott in his prime was a real handful for any team.

Honourable mentions Neal Stanley, a honest to goodness forward team player alongside Kim Casey, another predator in the box/livewire.

Controversially I would leave Andy Sayer out, on the thinnest of fine margins and the same goes for Les Briley. Both were professionals with Wimbledon and Millwall but as I'm picking a best of 'non-league' from those two teams, they don't make it.

Anderson over Foran??? No chance!!!

Cookham Rebel, if you had read the thread through,Mark Foran wasn't an option as it was from a choice of the teams of the post SDDelaney put up. If you head back up page 5 of this thread, you will see a programme from a certain year that Slough played Wycombe and it was the preferred selection out of those 22 players !

Oops, my bad 3spirit. I’d still have Foran over Anderson though ??

So would I !

However, I view them as different types of defenders and I would have liked to have seen Darren Anderson in action when he was playing for Aldershot in the football league,as by all accounts he was class, until injury put paid to his league career hence him coming to Slough. Also you can have one great centre half but if the other centre half playing next to you is a liability and not very good,it can damage the good one's reputation. That's why the centre half pairing is so important and has to be complementary.
