Mursley United

Recommended Posts

Mursley United appear to be an ambitious Club and produced an interesting five year plan a few years back however without floodlights at Station Road, and the required facilities for Step 6 football, their hands are very much tied aren't they. They have 'languished' in Division Two ever since 2001/02 following restructuring of the League and won the Championship that season, by one point from Haywood United, however their best finish since then has been third in 2013/14. The Wycombe Wanderer visited Station Road on Thursday 26 July 2018 for a pre-season friendly with Hanslope and gives a nice account:

Yes, they are, I have actually found some derogative comments from you about me but it's okay, I'm thick skinned. Here are over 100 photographs from Mursley United v Winslow United in a 2018/19 Berks & Bucks FA Senior Trophy First Round tie, at Station Road on Saturday 8 September 2018, Winslow United won 3-2 with Jordan McDougall and Nathan Skelton netting:

It was a shame the SSML saw the back of Grendon Rangers in 2018/19 wasn't it as everybody enjoyed visits to their leafy Main Street home since they joined the League in 2013/14. Mursley United were due to travel there that season for a Division Two fixture, on Saturday 15 February 2014, however, unfortunately, it was a horrendous afternoon weatherwise and the game was called off although I gather the programme was used for the re-arranged fixture. Mursley United finished joint second on points that season with Kent Athletic behind runaway Champions Hale Leys United who were unable to gain promotion and duly won the Championship again the following 2014/15 campaign:

Over 200 photographs and a match report, courtesy of Sports Shots, from Mursley United's 4-0 defeat at Old Bradwell United on Saturday 12 December 2020 in a SSML Division Two fixture prior to a halt being called on the current 2020/21 campaign:

I'm quite surprised nobody has beaten me to the punch as at a meeting last night the North Bucks & District League announced that their Club's had overwhelmingly voted to conclude the 2020/21 season by continuing during April and May until each team had played each other the once. There has been quite a lot of criticism of the decision however surely that is far better than a 'meaningless' supplementary cup competition, the North Bucks & District League hierarchy must feel that they can't win. Mursley United Development can now look forward to 'completing' their Intermediate Division campaign having last seen action on Saturday 12 December when surprisingly going down 2-1 at Station Road to New Bradwell St Peter Reserves despite a visiting player seeing red, the week prior to that they had won 3-1 at Deanshanger Athletic with goals from Ryan Guinnane, Ricky McAdam and Lewis Parkin. Watch this space for further details on the conclusion of Mursley United Development's North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division campaign:

Inconspicuous

Mursley United Development entertain Twyford United on Saturday 10 April when they resume their North Bucks & District League Intermediate Division campaign, almost four months to the day since surprisingly losing 2-1 to New Bradwell St Peter Reserves in their last outing on Saturday 12 December at Station Road. The fixture with Twyford United kicks off at 3.00pm, unfortunately spectators are not allowed to attend however, presumably, it is possible to inconspicuously watch the game from some vantage point.

Thanks Karen, I gather from another Forum that that is all you know so far, or at least all you are letting on, have you not done any digging to find out why the Club have suddenly resigned, it's a crying shame as they were founder members of the SSML in 1997/98.
