Karen's Inane Ramblings - 2020/21

Recommended Posts

I thought we could have a thread on Karen's Inane Ramblings (From Up Noorf) weekly newsletters for those who miss them elsewhere, such as on the Sports Shots website, and wish to comment, they are always a good, informative and amusing read particularly the statistics of 'Motty' proportions, Karen really knows her onions:

Another exciting episode of Karen's Inane Ramblings covering the weekend's FA Cup action and the five SSML Premier Division fixtures, no wonder she hasn't got time to post on here any longer:

One thing I did happen to spot in the first issue of 'Karen's Inane Ramblings' this season was the line below, if I am not mistaken it is taken from a lyric in a song by the disgraced pop star Gary Glitter, I'm quite surprised she used that:

'To quote that old 70s Glam Rock Classic ‘Hello, hello. It’s good to be back, it’s good to be back'

Another exciting episode encompassing last Tuesday evening's ten SSML Premier Division matches, also a feature on the SV Holdenstedt II v SG Ripdorf/Molzen II eleventh tier match in Germany which beat the Arbroath v Bon Accord 36-0 result by just one goal, I wonder if that's what they were trying to do:

The world record for goals scored in senior football, which has stood ever since Arbroath thumped Bon Accord 36-0 in 1885, has been smashed by a team from Madagascar.

League champions AS Adema won a match 149-0, more than quadrupling the existing record - and without gaining possession of the ball between the first goal and the 149th.

Their opponents, Stade Olymique L'Emyrne, took complete control of the national league game, reducing Adema to the role of onlookers, as they deliberately knocked the ball in the back of their own net 149 times, in protest over a refereeing decision.

Here we go folks, issue four already of Karen's Inane Ramblings (From Up Noorf) weekly newsletter, it's always good value and covers last weekend's FA Vase First Qualifying Round ties and domestic SSML games:

How does she find the time, it's episode five of Karen's Inane Ramblings (From Up Noorf) covering the midweek FA Cup ties and SSML Division One fixtures:

Episode 6 of Karen's Inane Ramblings covering last Saturday's SSML domestic programme. Have I missed something as why did Dave Brock defect from London Colney to Colney Heath and when did this happen, didn't Dave save London Colney from extinction in 2017 and he bleeds Royal blue, or so I thought, having been at Cotlandswick for fifty years. Surely it would have been more appropriate for him to receive his prestigious service to football award from the FA there rather than at the Recreation Ground, possibly on 3 April next year when Colney Heath go to London Colney. Anyway congratulations Dave:

Episode 7 covering the midweek matches in the Premier Division and Division One, where on earth does Karen find the time in addition to her fixture duties especially searching high and low for obscure football stories:

I'm sure we have all been wondering why Karen has dragged her feet with the next exciting episode of Karen's Inane Ramblings (From Up Noorf), she must have been busy lately as it is a bumper issue this time covering last Saturday's FA Cup and SSML action that survived the deluge as well as Tuesday evening's six Premier Division fixtures. I thought there might have been a mention and explanation as to why the Eynesbury Rovers v Leighton Town fixture was called off on Tuesday as we are still in the dark:

Here we go folks, epidode ten of Karen's Inane Ramblings (From Up Noorf), hot off the press and packed with information and statistics, it covers last weekend's FA Vase and SSML fixtures only so don't expect anything on Buckingham Athletic's exploits last night, that is still to come:

It's another one folks, episode eleven, boiling off the press and hot on the heels of episode ten covering the SSML midweek fixtures from yesterday and Tuesday. As Karen indicates, it's certainly looking as if London Colney are, to quote Private Frazer in Dad's Army, 'doomed', surely Tring Athletic will eventually get out of trouble as they played well on Tuesday at Bell Close, as will Dunstable Town who are in a false position:

I'm sure we have all once again been wondering why Karen has dragged her feet with the latest episode of Karen's Inane Ramblings (From Up Noorf), I guess she has been busy lately however here is number twelve and it has been worth the wait, covering all of last Saturday's action although not Monday, Tuesday and last night's SSML Premier Division and Division One games, I assume those will be summarised next time. Anyway, thanks Karen for your efforts and dedication to the SSML:

Yes, as expected, Karen was quick off the mark this time to follow up with the midweek SSML action in episode thirteen of her Ramblings (From Up Noorf). It's a brief but interesting one and funny she should touch on the Napoli v AZ Alkmaar Europa League tie as I had a wager on the Italian Club knowing that the Dutch side were under strength, as Greavsie often said 'it's a funny old game':

I wouldn't mind betting that the next exciting instalment of Karen's Inane Ramblings (From Up Noorf) will be out later today, covering Tuesday and last night's League action, so watch this space. St Panteleimon are starting to look formidable again after a slow start to the campaign by their own standards losing at Stotfold and to London Lions and Winslow United in successive home fixtures so I wonder if Karen will touch on that. The same goes for their bitter rivals New Salamis who haven't exactly set the Division alight either as everyone expected would be the case, they haven't won in three League matches now and have turned into draw specialists this season with four stalemates.

All clubs have been informed as to why Ramblings are suspended at present

Karen - Really, why would they be suspended, it doesn't make any sense, would you like me to have a whirl and cover all the Saturday and midweek games involving SSML Club's, obviously it won't be anywhere near as comprehensive as yours but better than nothing
